Daily Inspiration: Meet Joniece Lanier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joniece Lanier.

Hi Joniece, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My crochet journey started in 5th grade, when my 4th grade teacher taught me how to crochet one day after school. 🧢✨

Little did I know that something so simple would become a part of my purpose.

Even back then, I knew I wanted to become a business owner and a fashion designer. I’ve always had a love for creativity, fashion, and creating things that are uniquely mine.

Now, years later, I’m still crocheting, still creating, and building the vision I once had as a little girl 🀍

This is more than just crochet to me. It’s a dream I’ve been carrying for years and I’m just getting started

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride, but the challenges became my teachers. Early on, I felt overwhelmed and burnt out, letting the business run me instead of me running it. I didn’t know all the back-end parts like handling payment disputes, and carrying everything alone was heavy. Over time, I learned that I have to run the business, not let it run me. That shift meant building systems, setting boundaries, and asking for help instead of believing I had to be a superhero.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is centered around crochet fashion and creativity. I specialize in creating unique, handmade pieces that let people express their individuality, from custom outfits to vacation wear to children’s pieces and accessories. I’m most proud of how far I’ve grown, from learning to crochet young to building a business and vision for my future. What sets me apart is my creativity and my willingness to make pieces that are different. I love bold colors and unique details, so each piece feels personal, not mass-made.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me is peace plus purpose. It’s being able to create what I love, serve people through my work, and still have time for a life that feels balanced and quiet at the end of the day. Not just busy. Being happy within is a huge marker of success. If the outside looks busy but the inside feels rushed or hollow, that’s not success for me. It’s that inner steadiness, where the work and my heart match up.l
