Today we’d like to introduce you to Helen Jensen.
Hi Helen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a low-income neighborhood, which taught me resilience and a strong work ethic from an early age. While earning my BA in Computer Information Systems, I worked full-time and raised my child as a single mom. This experience shaped who I am today and strengthened my determination to build something meaningful.
I’ve always had a deep love for nature, the outdoors, animals, and my dogs, and those passions naturally led me toward a more mindful, eco-friendly lifestyle. During COVID, I decided to turn that passion into something bigger and launched BBC Marketing, which initially focused on helping people find clean, organic food online.
Over time, that mission expanded to help people live more sustainable, eco-friendly lives. That journey eventually led to BambamScoop, where I combine my tech background with my passion for organic living to help others make healthier, more intentional choices in their everyday lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I started from scratch, figuring everything out on my own—from finding reliable resources to creating content and building my website from the ground up.
There were a lot of challenges along the way. Learning the technical side, staying consistent, and trying to grow something meaningful without a clear roadmap took a lot of trial and error.
But those struggles pushed me to grow, and they’ve played a big role in shaping my brand and the work I do today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Through BambamScoop, I create content and resources focused on helping people live more sustainable, eco-friendly, and organic lifestyles. I specialize in simplifying sustainability—making it easier for people to find clean products and make more mindful choices without feeling overwhelmed.
What I’m most proud of is building this from the ground up and seeing people genuinely connect with the message. It’s rewarding to know that the work I share is helping others make healthier choices for themselves, their families, and the environment.
What sets me apart is my approach to sustainability. I don’t believe it has to be perfect—I believe in progress. My focus is on realistic, everyday changes that people can actually maintain long-term and feel good about.
Outside of BambamScoop, I’m also a newbie beekeeper, a dog lover, and someone who enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors. Those personal passions continue to inspire the work I do every day.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I don’t currently have a formal business mentor, so much of my growth has come through self-teaching, research, and hands-on experience.
For me, networking has been less about traditional networking and more about building genuine relationships with people who share similar values and goals. I’ve found that the most meaningful connections come from authentically engaging with others in the same space over time.
The one person I do consider a mentor is my older sister, Juanita Garcia, who has guided me in beekeeping as I continue learning more about sustainable living firsthand.
