Hi, I’m Heidy, the creative mind behind Decor by Heidy!
For the past 9 years, I’ve been bringing events to life through colorful balloons, custom backdrops, and thoughtful design. What started as a passion project has grown into a full-blown event design business based in sunny South Florida — and I couldn’t be more proud!
As a Certified Balloon Artist, I specialize in creating one-of-a-kind installations for birthdays, baby showers, corporate events, and everything in between. I love mixing creativity with intention, making sure each event feels magical, personal, and totally Instagram-worthy.
When I’m not designing dreamy celebrations, you’ll find me teaching other balloon artists how to scale their businesses, speaking at industry events, or planning the next big celebration.
I began in the event design world at the ripe age of 16 when I took my first courses in Adobe Design Suite – from then on it has been a direct path into designing, dreaming, drawing and bringing things to life! With COVID in 2020 we switched gears directly head first into balloons in order to continue bringing the celebration and happiness to everyone’s home. This launched me into stardom in the balloon industry! I have taught around the word for recognized brands like Sempertex and Betallic and I cannot wait to see where this crazy journey continues to take me!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Remaining flexible has honestly been the key to my success. In the last 9 years I literally started this business from my childhood bedroom… growing into a self storage unit with one light bulb. When I got to the point of having 4 storage units I knew it was time for a larger space and there came our warehouse! It was such an incredible moment for us – which was quickly shadowed in doubt with COVID in 2020. The flexibility to switch lanes and dive head first into the balloon sector allowed me not only to remain open but to grow exponentially! We quickly grew our team from 2 people to 6 and truly exploded at a time when many others were closing their doors for the last time. This is just one of the many hurdles we have faced but in the face of adversity i always strive to remain positive, faithful and flexible!

I’m an event designer and creative director specializing in immersive celebrations that transform spaces into living works of art. Through my company, Decor by Heidy, I design environments that feel layered, intentional, and emotionally memorable. My work blends large-scale installations, custom décor, and experiential details to create celebrations that are both visually striking and deeply personal.
While many people associate my work with balloons, what truly defines my approach is how I use them as an artistic medium. I’m known for a maximalist design style: rich in texture, scale, and color… where balloons become sculptural elements that help shape the entire visual narrative of an event. I love pushing the boundaries of what people expect from this medium, elevating it beyond décor and into something that feels architectural and expressive.
Over the years, I’ve become recognized within the balloon and event design community for bringing an editorial, design-forward perspective to the industry. I believe balloons have an incredible ability to transform a space when they are treated with the same intention and creativity as any other design element. My goal has always been to show that celebration design can be both playful and sophisticated at the same time.
What I’m most proud of is building a brand that clients trust with some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Events mark milestones, memories, and personal stories, and it’s an honor to help bring those stories to life visually. I’m also passionate about sharing knowledge within the industry and encouraging other creatives to see the limitless artistic potential within balloons and event design.
What sets my work apart is the combination of artistic vision and meticulous execution. Every design begins with a concept, but it’s the layering of materials, scale, color stories, and movement within the space that ultimately creates a memorable experience. My goal is never simply to decorate a room, but to create an atmosphere that feels immersive, joyful, and unforgettable.
At its heart, my work is about celebrating boldly and beautifully, and showing that creativity has no limits when you approach design with imagination.

I absolutely love to read books to escape. I love enthralling stories that expand the mind and our horizons. I am deeply spiritual person!
For my business, I find a lot of inspiration and practical insight through podcasts, especially industry-focused resources like The Bright Balloon Podcast. As an entrepreneur and creative, I’m always looking for ways to grow not just artistically, but strategically as well. Listening to conversations with other professionals in the event and balloon industry helps me stay connected to new ideas, evolving trends, and different perspectives on running a successful creative business.
Podcasts like this are especially valuable because they go beyond design and talk about the realities of entrepreneurship, pricing, scaling a company, building systems, and navigating the challenges that come with growth. Hearing the experiences of other decorators and business owners reminds me that while creativity is at the heart of what we do, strong business foundations are what allow that creativity to thrive.
