I’m Guimar Urbina, and I have more than 15 years of experience as an Interior Designer in South Florida. I founded my firm, Guimar Urbina Interiors, 14 years ago, with a Studio in Brickell and now located in the vibrant Miami Design District.
At Guimar Urbina Interiors, we offer boutique services that span the entire design spectrum – from initial concept development to design execution, project supervision, and those final touches like decorative pieces and personal shopping for essentials like towels, bedding, and complete kitchen supplies. Our goal is to transform a house into a fully furnished home, ready for our clients to simply move in with their clothes and personal items.
Over the years, we’ve completed more than 100 projects across various locations, including Miami, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Brickell, Brickell Key, Downtown Miami, Edgewater, Miami Beach, Aventura, Sunny Isles, Williams Island, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Tampa, New York, New Jersey, Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia. Our portfolio also includes projects for public figures such as Carlos Arroyo, Rodolfo Pizarro, Marc Bounoconti, Miguel Rojas, Yuliesky Gurriel, Dessideria De Caro, and key players from the Inter Miami soccer team.
Guimar Urbina Interiors also offers design services for commercial establishments. Whether it’s a chic office space, a trendy restaurant, or a welcoming retail environment, we bring our distinctive touch to elevate the aesthetic and functionality of various commercial projects.
In 2023, Guimar Urbina Interiors launched a podcast available on Spotify and YouTube. Tune in as I share valuable Interior Design Tips and insights for those who are passionate about staying on top of trends and creating stylish, functional spaces.
I’ve had the pleasure of contributing to the world of interior design on the TV Show “Hogar HGTV +,” where I redesigned the interiors of several houses. Additionally, I’ve expanded my offerings with the Guimar Urbina HOME brand, featuring exclusive collections of wallpapers, drapery, and upcoming additions like rugs, bed sheets, and fragrances for your home. These products are available exclusively through distribution by THE WALLPAPER COMPANY.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating the journey of building Guimar Urbina Interiors has been incredibly rewarding, but like any venture, it hasn’t been without its challenges. The path to success is rarely a linear one, and I’ve encountered a few hurdles along the way.
One significant challenge was establishing a presence in the highly competitive field of interior design, especially in South Florida. Building a reputable firm from the ground up demanded a strategic approach, dedication, and a keen understanding of market trends.
Expanding from our initial studio in Brickell to the current location in the Miami Design District was a pivotal move but presented logistical and operational challenges. Managing growth while maintaining the high standards of our boutique services requires careful planning and adaptability.
Moreover, each project, whether residential or commercial, brings its own set of unique challenges. Balancing the diverse needs and preferences of clients, staying updated on the latest design trends, and ensuring seamless project execution demanded constant learning and flexibility.
On a personal note, juggling the demands of running a successful firm, participating in television projects, and launching a podcast added another layer of complexity. Yet, overcoming these challenges has contributed to the resilience and evolution of Guimar Urbina Interiors.
While the road has had its bumps, it’s the overcoming of these obstacles that has defined the character of my journey. Each challenge has been an opportunity to learn, grow, and refine our approach to providing unparalleled design services to our clients.
