Today we’d like to introduce you to Enri Costa
Enri , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Enri Costa, I am a Venezuelan producer and musician living in miami. I started my musical journey when I moved to the US during my freshman year of high school, I went to a school for the arts which helped me developed my full love for the arts and music specifically. I was heavily influenced by jazz and hip hop, and by my Caribbean roots with genres like salsa, and tambores afro venezolanos, combined with flamenco and Bossa nova. In 2019 I began to write my original compositions and release my music, and with my second song “LEJOS” I was able to get into the magazine “rolling stones en espanol” with the list of “Artistas que deberias conocer”, https://es.rollingstone.com/20-artistas-que-deberias-conocer/ This pushed my career even more and allowed me to play in multiple venues in Miami and work in multiple recording studios with a variety of artists.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been multiple struggles, the first one being that it is hard to make people pay attention to your music at first, also having to work 9-5 jobs and then going to a studio until 4 am to keep on working on your music is very difficult. It feels like having a double life in a way. However, all the struggles are worth it and they are a part of the process which I pretty much enjoy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make music in Spanish pretty much however, I have some songs in English that I will release eventually. I love to mix all the genres I can, but there is always the underlaying essence of jazz and hip hop in there with whatever I do. I usually record most of all my demos in my house, since I’m a multi instrumentalist it makes the creative process somewhat easier, however, I always like to work with different people because the input they can give to a song is very valuable.
I am really proud of my project since it started, and up until now I feel like many doors are opening and that I am on the right track. I keep on meeting multiple people that want to get involve. I am very thankful for all the people along in this journey that have joined. Additionally, I’m extremely proud of every song I release because they come from a place of vulnerability and honesty with my myself and that is something I always want to portray.
I think what sets me apart is that I am in the constant search for new sounds and new ideas, I keep on trying to evolve and create new things in my own way, so even if I am doing a pop song it is gonna sound like me since I know very well my identity and roots.
What makes you happy?
many things make me happy, I love to spend time with my family and friends, exercise, meditation, food. Simple things make me really happy, Also traveling, that is a really big part and every year I try to make at least one small travel somewhere.
