Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuelle Louis Sidney Smith.
Hi Emmanuelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the beauty and wellness industry started with a strong interest in helping people feel more confident in their bodies and skin. I first became certified in body contouring, where I began working with clients on treatments that support body sculpting and lymphatic drainage. Through that experience, I realized how much I loved working directly with clients and helping them feel better about themselves.
That passion led me to pursue my esthetician license so I could expand my knowledge and provide more advanced skincare treatments. As I gained experience, I became particularly interested in corrective skincare and helping clients who struggled with acne, sensitivity, and hyperpigmentation. I later became an acne-certified esthetician and focused on developing treatment protocols that combine results with a relaxing experience.
Today, I am the founder of Sea and Salt Spa, where I specialize in corrective facials, lymphatic drainage, and personalized skincare treatments for clients of all skin types, including melanin-rich and sensitive skin. My goal is not only to provide effective treatments but also to educate my clients so they understand their skin and feel confident in caring for it long term.
Alongside my work in the treatment room, I also share educational content online to help more people learn about skin health and evidence-based skincare practices. My vision is to continue growing my brand while creating a trusted space where clients can achieve real, lasting results.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business in the beauty industry has definitely not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building a client base and growing a business while continuously investing in education, equipment, and marketing. Like many small business owners, I had to learn not only how to provide great treatments but also how to run a business, manage finances, market myself, and build trust with clients.
Another challenge was standing out in a very competitive industry. There are many spas and estheticians, so I had to focus on developing my own niche and becoming known for corrective skincare and personalized treatments rather than just basic services. This required a lot of continued learning, certifications, and refining my approach to treatments.
There were also moments of uncertainty and slow periods that tested my patience and resilience. However, those challenges pushed me to become more strategic, improve my skills, and focus on building long-term relationships with my clients. Over time, these experiences helped shape my brand and strengthened my commitment to providing results-driven treatments and education through Sea and Salt Spa.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in corrective facials, acne-focused treatments, microneedling, and lymphatic drainage, and I work with a wide range of skin types, including sensitive and melanin-rich skin. One of my priorities is helping clients understand their skin rather than simply treating surface concerns. Education is a major part of my work, and I believe empowering clients with knowledge about their skin leads to better, lasting results.
What sets my work apart is my commitment to blending clinical results with a relaxing, personalized experience. Every treatment is customized based on the client’s skin condition, goals, and lifestyle. My approach focuses not only on improving the skin but also on supporting overall skin health and confidence.
What I am most proud of is building Sea and Salt Spa into a trusted space where clients feel cared for, educated, and supported throughout their skincare journey. I am passionate about continuing to grow my expertise, expand my services, and use both in-person treatments and online education to help more people feel confident in their skin.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor doesn’t always happen in a traditional way. In my experience, mentorship often comes from learning through different sources such as industry educators, experienced professionals, and even following people whose work you admire. I believe it’s important to stay curious and continuously invest in education, because growth in this industry comes from constantly refining your skills and knowledge.
Networking has also played an important role in my journey. Building genuine relationships with other professionals in the beauty and wellness industry allows you to exchange ideas, learn from each other’s experiences, and grow together. I’ve found that approaching networking with authenticity rather than just looking for opportunities creates stronger and more supportive connections.
My advice for anyone looking for a mentor is to be proactive and open to learning. Reach out to people you respect, ask thoughtful questions, and always be willing to learn from different perspectives. Surrounding yourself with people who are committed to growth can make a huge difference when building a career or business.
