Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dreamscape.
Hello Dreamscape, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
In August 2022, we all came to Miami hoping to become successful musicians and find people who shared similar passions. We didn’t know whom we would meet or what opportunities to have, but by some miracle, the five of us met, and Dreamscape was formed. Our bassist, Harry, and our lead guitarist, Sameer, were roommates and started writing music together every night. They quickly realized their musical chemistry had lots of potential and decided to find people who fit their vibe.
Harry met our lead singer, Vivienne, in class, and after jamming one afternoon, Dreamscape became a reality. Max and Tucker, our drummer and key player, joined a few months later, and the band was finally complete. We released our first single, “Letting Go of Nothing,” in January and have an EP coming out in March! Looking back over a year later, we are amazed at what we’ve accomplished and are beyond excited for what’s to come! We can’t wait for the world to see what we offer.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Songwriting hasn’t always gone smoothly. We are all college students, and sometimes, it’s hard to find free time where we all have energy and fresh ideas to work with. On days when we all feel burnt out, we struggle with writer’s block and tend to play songs we have already written until we decide we should just regroup another time.
We hated our original “Paradox” song until we finished recording it. In the studio, we devised different ideas on the spot because we disliked certain elements in the recording session. We struggled to find the energy to perform the song to the best of our ability in the studio because we weren’t pleased with how it sounded.
However, by the end of the session, we were loving it! We found ways to add our creativity to the project and make it our own. Songwriting doesn’t always come easy, but we’ve learned that the less time we spend thinking and the more time we spend being creative and having fun, the easier it is to write songs we enjoy!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are an alternative pop band based in Miami. What makes us special is our shared passion and vision for this project. We are all driven by the belief in our potential for success and often discuss the great things we believe we can achieve in the coming years. This common goal fuels our strong chemistry and motivates us to keep creating music that we are passionate about.
Our sound can’t be defined by one genre or artist, which is what we are most proud of. From blues to funk, to pop, and everything in between, our sound combines everything we grew up playing and listening to. Embracing our differences is what keeps us going. We hope our listeners connect with our music and always recognize us for our unique style!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
We are very lucky to be in the same place simultaneously. There are thousands of music schools in the country and many places we could have gone. Somehow, we all ended up at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. We often talk about how grateful we are to have found each other because we can’t imagine this group working with others.
There’s something truly special about our bond that we couldn’t find anywhere else. We all share a common interest in style, genre, and the desire to be a successful band. This shared mindset has kept us going and will continue for many years!
