Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Peter Antevy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2005, I made a 10-fold medication error on a child. This, after training at 2 of the top 10 children’s hospitals in the country. This wasn’t the first, and it wasn’t the last either. I knew that if it could happen to me then it could happen to others as well. After many stressful years, I finally figured out a solution to the problem but was so embarrassed about it that I didn’t tell anyone until a nurse asked if I would teach my “little trick” during a lecture I was scheduled to give. After my talk I had 50 people line up to ask me for the last two slides…..the slides which I used to teach the trick.
In 2010 I became an EMS Medical Director for a fire department and saw the errors there were happening frequently. This allowed me to develop a more comprehensive solution to the problem and that was the year the company was officially incorporated. We went live with our first customer in 2012 and ultimately developed an application several years later.
Today we are in approximately 2000 cities across all 50 states and our software is used on 1800 patients per day on average. Peer-reviewed studies have proven that our method saves lives and significantly reduces medication errors.
Our system is also used in approximately 50 hospitals around the country including the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and Memorial Hermann in Texas.
Aside from the software we also have a national pediatric advanced life support course used across the country as well as durable goods (pediatric equipment) that EMS agencies use when they are on the scene.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not a smooth road at all. Why? Because what we’ve done has been contrary to the “standard of care” and therefore the medical establishment ignored us for many years. My own colleagues didn’t want to look me in the eyes because of what I was doing in the early days. Now things are much different because of the data and the reach we’ve been able to accomplish. It turns out that innovations in healthcare are 10X more difficult because of the phrase “this is how we’ve always done things.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At my core, I’m a pediatric emergency physician and EMS medical director. This combination is atypical so I’ve become known as the subject matter expert for anything related to pediatrics in the pre-hospital setting.
I was also the medical director on scene at the Parkland shooting and that day will live with me forever.
I’m not good at many things, including business. I married up thankfully and my wife Allison runs our company which is now 30 strong here in South Florida. My strengths are few, and mainly center around the vision for the company and is reflected in the application and education that we provide.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am a big believer in treating everyone with respect regardless of who they are. This is the mantra we have in healthcare and it’s something I carry through to business.
