Daily Inspiration: Meet Daziiel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daziiel.

Daziiel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I was 14 I had a problem with addiction to substances . And this developed through my life into a crutch that made it impossible to function and react to life in a normal way. I ended up hooked on opiates and bounced around from rehab to halfway house for four years. In the same cycle of trying to understand sobriety but failing after a few months. I have a year and 9 months now sober now. I was finally able to stop and fix my life around, I started making music as “Daziiel” and I make sure to share my struggles and wins with my audience. I need to let everybody who struggles know that there’s a way out. For me it was the music, and connecting with others going through similar things. I would have never thought I could get away from fentanyl and crack, I never thought I could get my family back in my life, I never thought I could make my dreams work. Until I did. I lost my mom two months ago and she got to see me sober and happy for little while, and that was worth everything to me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled with addiction, homelessness and losing everybody around me because of who I turned into when I was on substances. Recently now I lost my mom to cancer, so the road never gets easier, but now I know how to travel safely.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My artistic name is Daziiel. I make songs about addiction, about going after your dreams and about failure. I talk about the real things i’ve gone through my life, that’s what sets me apart, that’s what sets all of us apart, our own path.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Never giving up is the most important. I also had to learn that for me to stay sober, I needed to follow a dream, I needed something to make up everyday excited to do. Music was that chase for me.
