Daily Inspiration: Meet Daniel Singer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Singer.

Hi Daniel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
The cocktail renaissance saw bartenders move towards higher quality, fresher ingredients in an effort to make better drinks. At the time, mixers and garnishes were really poor quality and I saw the opportunity to build a globally relevant, premium mixer and garnish business. I believed that with enough love and resilience, I could revolutionize the category.

In truth, with Filthy, I just jumped and built my wings on the way down. Doing it that way means you learn some hard lessons and from my seat there are always challenges but that’s where the joy is. Leaders problem-solve at speed with positivity, that’s the job. You make the best decisions you can at any moment with the information and instinct that you have, and you don’t always get it right.

What I would say is that it takes a huge amount of energy to build something magnificent and pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice, so choose not to waste any energy on negativity on things that don’t move what you’re doing forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Filthy is first and foremost about making the drinks people love better. Cocktails are about pleasure and the details matter. At Filthy we are also doing our part to help our community.

• Sustainability: Our products are cured without the use of chemicals and our packaging is environmentally conscious, featuring innovative, industry-first pouches that greatly reduce their carbon footprint.

• Community Support: I am proud to say I was recently awarded the Key to Miami-Dade County for Filthy’s contribution to the Miami business community.

• Personal Charitable Component: I am an honorary board member of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award U.S., a charity that champions young Americans aged 14-22 to become “World Ready.” After growing up with dyslexia, I want to make sure all children have the ability to take on the world despite any physical, mental, or learning differences.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I believe in positivity. The stronger the negatives in your life the greater the opportunity to push towards a more powerful positive. I don’t let the negative things that have happened define me, but instead, harness that energy and use it to have a positive impact.

For me, happiness comes from self-awareness. Self-awareness means you like your most authentic life, and living authentically in every moment makes me happy.

I also find happiness being around my wife and children and seeing other people being successful (whatever that means for them).
