Daily Inspiration: Meet Daniel Calvelli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Calvelli.

Hi Daniel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Started doing this in high school as a side gig because I mainly wanted to focus on sports, then when I got to college I took it more seriously because I was done playing sports but wanted to stay in the industry. It became a way for me to really know what I wanted to do in life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely not a smooth road for certain. It’s very hard being young in this industry, you’re often overlooked for the simple reason of not knowing the right people. Because of that you’re often denied credentials and media passes to get into events you want to work because many see talent as not enough.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m in the sports media world. I specialized in photography and videography, both short-form and long-form for content that would go on social media and internal things for organizations. I’m also a Sports Information Director at Palm Beach Atlantic University, a NCAA Division II program. I’m definitely known for giving it my best every time I go and work something which makes people want to bring me back in the long run. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I don’t treat clients like clients I try my best to be personable and make them feel like they have a relationship with me.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I would say for those starting out, definitely be patient but also talk to everyone. Don’t compare yourself to others because comparison is the thief of joy, but don’t be content with where you are, always strive to be better.
