Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Farquharson aka Pac Jam 305.
Hi Charles, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started the Pac Jam 305 page on instagram 11 years ago. I was searching for something to represent and push the city forward. I figured presenting our history would help us remember where we came from and what we accomplished and it would inspire us to do more. It has evolved into everything Miami. Pure culture. We are one of the premier platforms on everything Miami. A lot of other pages preserving Miami History have popped up in the past couple years and we are happy knowing we are the 1st. Thats what it’s all about. Inspiration. Let’s keep it going Miami. We cannot let our true history be erased.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Long nights studying and opportunities lost but I push thru knowing that the cause at hand is greater than myself. So many ups and downs but I make it work. All Praise To The Mighty Most High.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am also a rap artist along with being a historian with the stage name Uptown Cashamil. I have been on the Miami Music scene for over 2 decades along with my brother Young Breed of Maybach Music Group and my fam Ice Boi from Downsouth. I was in the group 21 GSC with Sytrack and Digital out of the Norland Section of Miami Gardens for 8 years and 2012 I went solo dropping 5 projects. My recent work of art is Da Crib 2 “The Verse Tape” which is available on PacJam305.com. I also have work on YouTube and SoundCloud. To find it search Uptown Cashamil. I am most proud of being the man I have become seeing our circumstances growing up in a city like Miami. What sets me apart from others is mindset. We were taught from young to go get what we want, stay focused, have no fear, be patient and positive. Play everything accordingly.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is when we use to go to Palatka, Florida every summer to be with family in Northside Projects. Ocean Street. My Great Grandma Margaret Julia Ray was our shining light instilling life lessons into us that I use till this day and will forever use. Rest In Peace to my big cousin Demarkcus Chaney aka Dirty Red who showed me the ropes. Also Rest In Peace to all our other family and friends we lost along the way. From Miami to Jacksonville. Im a real Florida Boi!
