Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanelle Tru.
Hi Chanelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a music artist from the Southside of Chicago. I’ve always loved music ever since I was little. My first ever interest in music started at about six years old. I asked my mom for a guitar but I didn’t get my first real one until I was about ten years old. I won my first talent show about a year later. Ever since then I’ve been grinding and learning from my experiences. Performing at places like The Taste Of Chicago, Lollapalooza, and also opening up for artists like Tweet and Taylor Bennett really were some great times and memorable moments in my life. Every opportunity feels like a step closer to where I want to be in my career. I just dropped my new single “Out Of My System” and I am so proud of it! I truly hope that it resonates with my listeners and supporters.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were may times were I felt defeated and wanted to give up, but those were just moments of frustration, where I didn’t know how to navigate through my struggles. The moment I realized that your struggles are not happening to you but for you is when I had an epiphany. I start rolling with the punches and locking in with myself. That made my journey so much smoother. Plus ups and downs are just apart of my story.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am music artist, songwriter stylist, and actress. I sing, rap and dance. I am most proud of the woman I am today. My growth and drive has work put me in rooms I have only dreamed of. I really like how creative, passionate and authentic I am. I have a great personality and I make great music. I think drive and authenticity will always set you apart. It’s the first thing that stands out to me.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes this crisis taught me a lot. It was so much going on around that time. I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is to be grateful for life and the little things.
