Daily Inspiration: Meet Carolyn Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Jones.

Hi Carolyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Makeup Artist & Beauty Educator
I am a makeup artist and licensed esthetician with over three decades of experience in the beauty industry. I was born in the United States and raised in Venezuela, studied Mass Communication and refined my makeup artistry through years of collaboration with renowned makeup artists, models, and designers across international markets.

My signature style is defined by radiant, flawless skin, soft sculpting, and timeless beauty an aesthetic inspired by the iconic glow of Victoria secret Angels and 90s glamour of high-fashion beauty. I am Known for creating polished, radiante looks that enhance natural features. My work embodies Western and Korean techniques that create femininity, and modern luxury.

I am based in Miami, and continue to work with producers and clients in the commercial and beauty space. Although today, I am equally devoted to education, where I combine my background in communication with my artistry teaching women in their forties and beyond how to achieve refined and radiance, professional makeup with confidence and ease.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had a relatively smooth transition into Miami because being half American and half Latina allowed me to understand the culture almost immediately. That gave me an advantage I could create makeup looks that resonated with both markets, and being bilingual made it easy to collaborate with a wide range of directors.

I did have to rebuild my career from scratch. I arrived in Miami at 35 as a single mother, which meant being selective with certain opportunities, especially travel.

Even so, it’s been a beautiful journey. I’ve built lasting relationships and earned the trust of many people in Miami. When I started 25 years ago, the industry looked very different, there were far fewer makeup artists, most were based in cities like New York City, Los Angeles, or Milan, and platforms like YouTube didn’t exist. So back then, learning makeup meant attending academies or apprenticing under established artists for years.
In that sense, it was a different time.We were very few in this market and in many ways, an easier one to grow within.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart is my deep understanding of skin how to make it look natural, radiant, and at its best, even in challenging moments such as skin issues, eczema, or irritation. I’ve built my career working with elite athletes, TV hosts, as well as corporate clients, doctors, lawyers, models, brides, and their families.

In addition, my reputation in TV, commercials, and infomercials has set me apart as directors value that I am extremely fast, reliable, and efficient in both hair and makeup, which is a skill not every makeup artist brings to set. This combination has helped define my career.

another important factor over the years is that many of my clients have grown with me, Im 61 years old, which has given me a unique strength in working with mature skin. I not only understand it deeply, but I also teach women how to enhance their makeup and skin looking radiant at any age.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I absolutely love Miami. I love the weather, having the beach so close, and honestly the fact that life can feel like a permanent vacation. I basically live with a “beach emergency kit” in my car, book, cooler, towel, umbrella, so if anything gets canceled, I take it as a sign from heaven and head straight to the beach. Not every city offers that level of emotional support.

Over the years, Miami has changed a bit. It’s gotten more chaotic, a little more intense, and yes… a little less “everyone saying hi in the streets and asking where is a great place to eat” than before. I do miss that old-school friendliness where strangers would actually talk to each other.

And of course, the prices have gone full rocket but we’re all just collectively pretending it’s fine.

Still, I love this city and I love Florida. Even with its chaos, it’s TRULY hard to beat.
