Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Quintero.
Hi Carmen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a very young age, I was always drawn to drawing, painting and everything that had to do with disciplines related to art. Parallel to my formal studies, I always set aside time for what I was passionate about, coloring, painting. I was always passionate about colors, brushes and paints and there was no better gift they could give me. work on ceramic, porcelain, stained glass. About twelve years ago, I discovered paraffin carving and fell completely in love with this art. Through it, he could capture all the forms of nature on paraffin and he could also carve faces, animals, etc. Seeing all these shapes magically emerge from a block of paraffin is truly exciting and therapeutic. Not only can you create the designs but you can even give them more realism through the paints applied on their surface. Paraffin is such a noble material and it gives you so many moments of relaxation through the carving of its surface. If you experience it, you will realize what I mean. I am a teacher by profession so I love to transmit and teach everything that I have learned over the years about this beautiful technique, so in these difficult and uncertain times that we have all had to live in one way or another, create a blog Through which I teach different tips on this art. I have also made different lives on my Instagram page and zoom in to show the different techniques of this beautiful art of carving. I have also participated in different Facebook platforms always bringing simple examples from the most basic techniques to get started in this art, materials to use and how to use them. It is for me a way to contribute to cope with these uncertain times with positivism, hope in better times through learning this art.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To say that it has been a simple path would not be honest. Artists, as in any other profession, are presented with many curves and bumps on the road of life. There are many factors that go into interpersonal relationships. We are human beings with such diverse experiences and growth environments, and transmitting an art technique that is not really well known in the midst of such an exuberant environment of works and artists is not alien to some skepticism, so you have to work very hard to make it known in the best possible way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a teacher, artist and online educator. I would say that I specialize in connecting people through art. I am happy to see how I can make a positive change in someone’s life through the teaching of this art.
I am very proud of my ability to connect with people through my knowledge of paraffin carving in a simple, authentic and real way.
My wish is that everyone can connect and receive this beautiful gift that is art.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Yes, I would like to tell, that life is a gift that we receive daily when we wake up. So no matter what you do or where you are always give the best of yourself. The sun always rises for everyone.
