Hi Candice, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Prior to launching my marketing agency, my career centered around corporate event management in Toronto, where I lived for 22 years before relocating to South Florida. It was this move that sparked my deep dive into digital marketing. Combining my passion for social media and entrepreneurship, I realized I could monetize my skills while assisting fellow business owners. I became fascinated by social media advertising—the algorithms, the psychology of consumer behavior, and the strategies that convert clicks into loyal customers.
Determined to master this field, I immersed myself in learning how to craft effective campaigns on Meta (Facebook/Instagram). I sought guidance from a mentor, enrolled in numerous courses, and eventually launched my boutique digital marketing agency. Our mission at Starfish Digital Marketing is to empower businesses to thrive and expand their revenue through strategic marketing strategies on Meta and Google Ads.
As for the name Starfish Digital Marketing- I am an island girl by birth (shout out to Trinidad & Tobago) and knew that I wanted my company name to reflect the deep love and respect I have for nature and our oceans. With inspiration from my son Myles, who shares my love for animals and nature, I founded this agency to make a positive impact in the digital landscape.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At the start, one big challenge was figuring out the competitive digital marketing scene and proving ourselves as newcomers. Getting the hang of digital ad platforms and staying on top of ever-changing algorithms meant always learning and adjusting. On top of that, starting from scratch to build a client base and earn their trust was a challenge. It required networking strategically and showing what makes us stand out in a busy market. Despite all that, every challenge has been a chance to learn and grow, shaping how we work with clients and helping us get where we are today.
Just like any entrepreneur, I had setbacks and moments where I wasn’t sure, but each hurdle pushed me to keep going. These challenges have really shaped how I run the agency, making our strategies sharper and our dedication to getting great outcomes for clients even stronger. It’s all about staying resilient and always learning in this fast-paced digital world.

I specialize in social media advertising. I am most interested in working with business in the health and wellness industry- think Aesthetic Medical Practices, Med Spas, Plastic Surgeon offices, Chiropractors, Wellness Centers, Health Coaches etc. At Starfish Digital Marketing, we’re known for our relationship-first approach and dedication to exceptional customer service. We offer highly personalized strategies tailored to each client’s unique needs and objectives.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For those starting out in digital marketing, especially in social media advertising, my advice would be to focus on continuous learning and hands-on experience. The digital landscape evolves rapidly, so staying updated with platform changes and industry trends is crucial. Don’t hesitate to experiment and test different strategies to understand what works best for your clients and their audiences. Communication and transparency are key—listening closely to client goals and concerns can significantly impact campaign success. Also, don’t underestimate the power of data. Analyzing campaign metrics not only validates your strategies but will also ensure better results.
If you are new to entrepreneurship the one piece of advice that has really stuck with over the years is this- To be successful all you need to do is show up, say yes and take others with you.
