Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon.
Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started during the pandemic in 2020, back home in Puerto Rico. Like many people, I was looking for something creative to focus on, and I’d always been curious about 3D printing. When I received my first 3D printer as a gift, I had no idea it would completely change my life. I spent a week assembling it on my own, learning as I went, and once I saw that first successful print, I was hooked.
What began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. I started creating costumes and cosplay pieces, blending my background in graphic design with 3D printing to bring my ideas to life. When I later moved to Miami, I was able to invest in a more advanced printer, which really helped me refine my craft and take things to the next level.
I started printing for family and friends, and thanks to their encouragement, I decided to turn my passion into a business. I began selling my creations at local farmers markets and online, and the response from the Miami community has been incredible. Their support and enthusiasm have truly fueled my journey and made this creative dream a reality.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There’s been a lot of trial and error along the way, and as a small business owner, the workload can be overwhelming. From managing production to marketing, and everything in between. It’s also pretty nerve-racking because I always want to produce my best work, especially when it comes to custom prints. Making sure each client is completely satisfied means a lot to me, and that pressure can be intense, yet exciting at times.
Still, it’s been an interesting journey. You really don’t understand what it takes until you’re in the middle of it. Running a small business comes with constant learning, challenges, and growth, but every obstacle has helped me improve my craft and appreciate how far I’ve come. Through it all, it’s incredibly rewarding to see each client’s print come to life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At TRY3D, my motto is simple: “You imagine, we print it.” I combine my passion for 3D printing with creativity and design to turn ideas into reality. Over time, I’ve created everything from keychains and action figures to full-sized, wearable helmets that are completely customized.
Thanks to my background in graphic design, I’m able to add my own artistic touch to every project, from the concept and modeling stages to the final print. One of the projects I’m most proud of is a custom statue I made for a client who’s a huge Star Trek fan. It was a sculpture that appeared briefly in the background of one of the movies, and he told me he couldn’t find it anywhere. I was able to design and bring it to life for him, and seeing his reaction was incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is the amount of care and detail I put into every piece. Each print is more than just a product to me; it’s a collaboration and a way to turn someone’s idea into something real and personal.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I think the biggest credit goes to my girlfriend, Angelica Rico. She has always believed in me and saw the vision for TRY3D even before I fully did. She was the one who encouraged me to take part in our first event, Homestead Comic-Con, and her support made all the difference. That experience became a turning point for TRY3D and helped me realize that this was something I could really build. Her unwavering belief in me and in what I do has been inspiring, and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without her by my side.
