Daily Inspiration: Meet Ben Bakson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Bakson.

Hi Ben, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in Germany, I grew up with a deep passion for music. I learned to play the piano and guitar as a child, but it wasn’t until my early 20s that I fell in love with electronic dance music. After attending my first international festival, I realized that the energy I felt on the dance floor was something I wanted to create for others. I bought my first set of decks, taught myself to mix, and started playing at small clubs and private parties. Over time, my sets became known for their uplifting, melodic vibes and big-room energy. I slowly transitioned from a hobbyist to a full‑time DJ and producer, releasing my own tracks and remixes, and traveling the world to perform. In 2020 I relocated to Miami to immerse myself in the vibrant music scene here, and I now split my time between producing original music and performing at festivals and clubs in cities like Sao Paulo, Tel Aviv, Madrid, and Bangkok. I’m driven by a desire to connect with people through music and to create spaces where everyone feels free and empowered.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like anyone trying to turn a passion into a career, my path hasn’t always been smooth. In the early days, I had a full-time corporate job and would spend nights learning to mix and producing tracks. There were financial constraints—buying equipment, traveling for gigs—and there was a lot of self-doubt. The industry is highly competitive and, as an openly gay DJ, I sometimes faced prejudices and expectations that didn’t align with my authentic style. When the pandemic hit, live gigs stopped overnight and I had to rethink how to connect with fans, livestreaming from my apartment and doubling down on production. Each challenge taught me resilience and reminded me why I love what I do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a DJ and music producer, I specialize in high‑energy, melodic house and progressive tunes that blend tribal beats with soaring vocals. My sets are designed to take listeners on a journey—building from deep, soulful grooves to euphoric peaks. I’m known for my ability to read a crowd and create an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome, which is important to me as part of the LGBTQ+ community. I produce original tracks and remixes that fuse European and Latin influences; several of my songs have reached the top of dance charts and have been featured at Pride festivals around the world. What I’m most proud of is using my platform to support community causes and to showcase up‑and‑coming artists. What sets me apart is a combination of technical precision, emotional storytelling, and the genuine connection I build with audiences whether I’m playing to 300 people in a club or 10,000 at a festival.

How do you think about luck?
I believe there’s always an element of luck—being in the right place at the right time or meeting someone who opens a door. I’ve certainly benefited from chance encounters: a club owner took a chance on me early on, and a last‑minute booking turned into a residency. But luck alone isn’t enough; it’s what you do with those moments. I’ve had my share of bad luck too—cancelled tours, technical failures mid‑set—but those experiences taught me to adapt and stay grounded. Ultimately I see luck as an opportunity that rewards preparation: when you work hard and stay passionate, you’re more likely to recognize and seize the lucky breaks when they come.
