Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with a simple idea: to help children unlock their full potential through reading. This idea was born from my personal experiences as a teacher for the past 16 years, where I witnessed firsthand the struggles many children faced in learning to read and the profound impact it had on their confidence and academic performance.
In 2018, I began tutoring on the side, and I haven’t stopped since. The impact I was making was evident not only to me but also to my clients. My reputation continued to grow, and soon, I had a full roster of students daily. I began by researching to understand the specific needs of my target audience and to identify the most effective teaching methods, coaches, and resources.
This helped me to create a tailored curriculum that caters to the individual learning styles and paces of each child, ensuring personalized and effective instruction. Having a clear vision and a strong passion, I embarked on the journey of starting my tutoring company. The initial stages were filled with challenges. However, my commitment to making a difference kept me inspired and focused on my goals.
In the summer of 2023, I was thrilled to open our brick-and-mortar location in Hallandale, FL. My dedication to providing personalized and engaging learning experiences has led Teach Inspire Transform to be named the Best Tutoring Provider of 2023 and have students who travel internationally for specialized summer classes.
Looking back on my journey, I am very proud of what I have accomplished and grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many children and families in our community. As I continue to expand and grow, I am excited about the future and the potential to reach even more children and empower them with essential reading skills, critical thinking, and confidence that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To ensure the success of my company, it has been crucial for me to prioritize my mental and physical health. This self-care is essential for maintaining the energy and clarity needed to lead effectively. Additionally, embracing continuous learning and trusting that I can handle challenges with grace and persistence has been vital. These experiences have strengthened me and the growth of Teach Inspire Transform.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My primary focus is on helping students develop foundational reading skills, empowering them to not only learn how to read but also read to learn. What sets us apart is our commitment to personalized instruction to each student’s unique needs, our utilization of teaching strategies backed by scientific research, and our dedication to empowering students with reading skills that extend beyond the classroom.
We go the extra mile by integrating hands-on, ‘under the kitchen sink’ science experiments into our curriculum, providing our students with fun and interactive learning experiences that ignite their curiosity, and help build confidence in their abilities and passion for learning.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality or characteristic that I feel has been crucial to the success of Teach Inspire Transform is being innovative. We understand that every child is unique, with individual learning styles, strengths, and challenges.
By incorporating innovative teaching strategies and techniques backed by science into our programs, we are able to deliver high-quality and effective instruction that helps our students develop essential reading skills and build confidence in their abilities. By assessing each student’s specific needs and requirements, we are able to provide effective and engaging learning experiences that resonate with our students and empower them to succeed.
