Today we’d like to introduce you to Oh.
Hi Oh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The interest began was when I was a child watching movies and paying attention to the background music. If I really liked the song, I would go search it up and right when I’d go to shower, I would try to recreate some movie scenes but with the same exact background music to go along with it. I didn’t really pay much attention to that back then, but my freshman year of high school (Santaluces) a lot of kids were into fashion, the underground music, to also going out on shoots to flex your outfit. I had a couple of friends that would go out and shoot after school and that’s what made me want to pick up a camera. I’m still not anywhere yet but the fact that I just keep improving makes me happy because I am able to express myself in a way sometimes that isn’t understood but art really is bigger than ourselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s not all that easy taking this creative road with a set vision of where you want to be and how you gonna get there. There’s been some doubt by people by just being able to really listen to a person, but I don’t blame them. Patience is also an obstacle to overcome but as time goes and you become more wise, you start to see why things go the way they do. I don’t really have any “real” struggles, yeah bad situations occur, but in my belief it’s all just a test to see how long you can hold on so you just gotta keep pushing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do photoshoots but if I get booked, we have to be making something crazy, I wouldn’t just want to pose someone in front of anything anymore. I would like to speak words but within an image or through a music video and which I also direct. I’m most proud of the progress I keep making and I notice it every time, the learning never stops. It is important to listen very thoroughly if you want to reach higher heights.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t think luck has worked towards me, I believe anything good or bad that’s happened in this journey, I’ve put myself in those positions whether it was some poor choice or for good times the work I put in to be able to be in the position to grow as a creative. You gotta keep moving even through the setbacks, can’t be all talk and not work.
