Today we’d like to introduce you to Yeliz Titiz.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a family majorly involved in Fashion and Retail in Turkey which allowed me to travel with them to Europe to participate in major Trade Shows. I studied Fashion Merchandising in London, US and also I lived in Dusseldorf, Germany for a year. I then started working with PERRY ELLIS as their Sourcing Director for 11 years… Those years were the most important years I had in my career. I traveled mainly South East Asia and was the best experience overall.
With always having the Entrepreneurial mind, I realized I had to start my own business. I wanted to open a small boutique importing Unique, and special items like Home decor, accessories, jewelry and curiosities. And then, I started The Bazaar Project and I opened my boutique in Miami’s Buena Vista area (near Design District) in 2014.
In a very short time, the store became a very popular destination by locals as well as international travelers.
In 2019, I opened my new concept in Coconut Grove in a 3000sqft location with a Café & Winebar inside, right next to Mr.C Hotel.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is always struggles in business but nothing I can really recall major.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see myself that I am very specialized in Curating. That definitely comes from the environment you are grown in. You don’t develop a taste later in life. Believe that taste just matures in time. I love product development (could be anything), I design jewelry. For sure, I am known for color and I am never afraid of color. Probably that also sets me apart from others.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
As much as I am proud that I had a very successful Corporate life, I think at some point you realize that it is time to move on.
