Today we’d like to introduce you to Vilena Poterba.
Hi Vilena, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From an early age, I’ve been surrounded by beauty — through music and the world of fashion. I graduated from music school and soon after was invited to join Aurora Model Management in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I’m still signed with them to this day – that agency has become like family to me.
My modeling career has taken me across the globe — throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East — before I signed with Bounty Models in Los Angeles, where I’ve been for the past six years. It has become my second fashion home here in the U.S.
Music has always been a part of my life, and I couldn’t let fashion be my only passion. I began producing electronic music, which naturally led me to DJing. Over time, I’ve grown into the artist I am today. I love to lights up parties through my sound and live the dream of creative expression.
Today, I produce music available on all streaming platforms, collaborate with amazing brands in Los Angeles, appear in music videos, and perform as a DJ at some of the city’s hottest events.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Modeling itself as any job is a combination of being independent, and ability to travel for a long time. Constant rejections on the way in competitive world of fashion builds your character and irregular amount of work can put you down. Frequent travel can sound glamorous, but it often means long periods away from home and loved ones
Making music is a challenge for myself and something new I learn every day. It’s an addiction too, I don’t think I can live a day without creating or discovering some new sounds.
Both modeling and music have taught me the important things, but I learned that nothing comes overnight — every step, every challenge shapes you. For me, it’s the passion for creating, expressing, and connecting that keeps me moving forward, no matter how tough it can get
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Everything I do comes from my heart. I collect vinyls for my personal music collection because I love to blend old and new sound together in my sets. Breaking boundaries and mixing styles in music is what I found interesting as a musician. As a model – I just give it all every second of my time. My success is not the amount of magazine covers or places I performed as an artist. I love to make people happy with the result of my work and also leave them with memories. To every creator – you should have a dream and pursue it. When you simply do what you passionate about the others will see and love it too
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
LA is a global mecca for art, music, fashion, and film. You’re surrounded by talented, driven people — it’s a city that constantly inspires new ideas, collaborations and creates paradise of opportunities. Nature meets city life, I love this place for all the possibilities.
