Conversations with the Inspiring Cherolyn Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherolyn Davis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cherolyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
GIRLfessonals Network was born through my event planning company Network Creations Events & Connections” as an event planner I begin hosting monthly networking events for women entrepreneurs, professionals, and paraprofessionals. As it turns out these events became my signature events for women. In May of 2013, I began mentioning forming an organization for women to a couple of my friends who without a thought supported my vision and dedicated their time and efforts to the success of GIRLfessionals Network. GIRLfessionals Network Inc. dedicated to bringing women together to inspire, motivate, support and educate each other through workshops and social events. GIRLfessionals Network is passionate about empowering women, growth, entrepreneurship, service, and sisterhood.

One of my proudest moments is developing scholarship opportunities for female seniors in high school furthering their education on a colligate level in the fields of “Foreign Language, Education, Engineering and Science” through the GIRLfessionals Network.

Cherolyn and the GIRLS of the GIRLfessionals currently meet every 3rd Monday of the month for “Chitchat, Chew & Collaborate Mixer.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of the challenges I faced were a decline in membership…scheduling conflicts….other groups/organizations being formed outside of GFN and more. But I realized that there will always be obstacles and challenges to anything worthwhile…if it’s worthwhile, you will “go” through it and “grow” through it. I try not to cry over spilled milk, I just pour another glass and add a few Oreos.

My advice for young women who are just starting their journey is simple “Take it one day at a time, stand firm on your beliefs, always have a visionary mindset, spark a brain and NEVER ever give up!”

I am a lover of 90’s hip-hop and one of my favorite quotes by my favorite hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur:
“I’m not saying I’m gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.” All I want to do is be apart of the changing process.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into GIRLfessionals Network story. Tell us more about the business.
My brand is getting women excited about being an entrepreneur as well as encourage all women especially women of color to support and connect with like-minded women who only need a chance to transform their lives through their dreams and visions.

A proud moment for me is blessings young GIRLS in high school with scholarships opportunities that will help with the furthering of their education on a collegiate level.

What set GIRLfessionals apart from other women organizations is to not have a “competing” mind and continue to be true to why you started in the first place and to always be of “service”…

I love supporting women and always willing to provide resources to those who are passionate about their gifts.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Have patience and be observant when looking for a mentor. You want to find someone who is in the business or likeness and have experience of what you’re seeking.

I suggest at least two so you can grab a few “golden nuggets” from each that will help with your growth.

Even though Cherolyn Davis is my oldest daughter has no affect on what I’m about to say. This young lady is differently a people person, everyone doesn’t have this special skill, she bubbly with a smile always on her face, she set goals & execute them, she’s a great Event Planner, she’s like glue she can attract people to her or to her events, you want ice cream, cake, cup cakes, balloons, tent, table linen, what ever you want she got the person. I could go on & on but I am her mother.
