Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry-Ann Porter.
Hi Terry-Ann, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is one of faith, resilience, perseverance, and a continuous desire to become the best version of myself.
I was born and raised in Jamaica, where I developed a strong appreciation for hard work, family, and the importance of creating opportunities for yourself. Those values have remained the foundation of everything I do today.
My journey into nursing began with a genuine desire to care for others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working in various areas of nursing, including medical-surgical, telemetry, and now emergency medicine. Each transition has challenged me, strengthened my clinical skills, and taught me valuable lessons about compassion, leadership, and resilience.
Outside of nursing, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I created The Goal Digger, a brand centered on empowering women to pursue their ambitions, remain intentional about their goals, and create a life they are proud of. What started as a vision eventually evolved into a business that continues to remind me of the importance of believing in yourself and taking action, even when you don’t have everything figured out.
Perhaps one of my most transformative roles has been becoming a mother. My son has given me an entirely new perspective on life, purpose, and legacy. Motherhood has taught me patience, sacrifice, and the importance of being intentional about the life I’m building, not just for myself but for the little person watching me.
Today, I’m a full-time emergency room nurse, a mother to an energetic four-year-old, an entrepreneur, and a woman who is still evolving. I’m passionate about personal growth, continuing my education, creating meaningful experiences, and encouraging other women to recognize that they don’t have to limit themselves to just one dream.
If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that you can be grateful for where you are while still being ambitious about where you’re going.
I’m proud of the woman I’ve become, but I’m equally excited about the woman I’m still becoming.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and I think that’s part of what makes my journey so meaningful.
There have been seasons when I questioned myself, experienced rejection, had to start over, and had to keep showing up even when life looked very different from what I had envisioned. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes a “no” isn’t the end of your story—it’s simply redirection.
Professionally, nursing has challenged me in ways I could have never anticipated. It is an incredibly rewarding career, but it can also be physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. I’ve experienced disappointment when opportunities I worked hard for didn’t happen when I wanted them to. There were moments when I wondered whether I was good enough or whether I was on the right path. Looking back, those experiences pushed me to grow, strengthened my resilience, and ultimately led me into emergency nursing, where I’ve discovered another side of myself as a nurse.
Entrepreneurship has come with its own challenges. Building something from the ground up requires you to believe in your vision even during seasons when the sales are slow, engagement is low, or you’re questioning whether you should continue. I’ve learned that success isn’t always loud. Sometimes success is simply remaining consistent with something you believe in.
And then there’s the challenge of balancing everything—being a nurse, an entrepreneur, continuing my education, being present for the people I love, and most importantly, being a mother. I don’t always get the balance perfectly right. I’ve had to learn that I cannot pour into everything and everyone while constantly leaving myself empty.
My faith has been a huge part of how I’ve navigated those seasons.. Some of the things I once viewed as setbacks, I can now recognize as preparation, protection, or redirection.
So no, the road hasn’t been smooth, but I wouldn’t erase the difficult parts. They’ve taught me resilience, boundaries, grace, and the importance of continuing to bet on myself. I’m still growing and still figuring things out, but I’ve learned that I can experience difficult seasons without allowing them to define my entire story.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is centered around nursing, entrepreneurship, education, and encouraging women to pursue their goals with confidence and intention.
Professionally, I am an emergency nurse, which means I specialize in caring for patients during some of the most urgent and unpredictable moments of their lives. Emergency nursing has strengthened my ability to think critically, remain calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and provide compassionate care in fast-paced situations. It has also taught me the importance of meeting people where they are and treating every patient with dignity, regardless of the circumstances.
In addition to nursing, I am an entrepreneur and the creator of Goal Digger, a brand focused on helping women stay motivated, organized, and intentional as they pursue their personal and professional goals. Through Goal Digger, I create products and messages that encourage women to take action, remain consistent, and believe in the vision they have for their lives.
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve continued to grow while navigating multiple responsibilities and seasons of uncertainty. I’m proud of becoming an emergency nurse, building something of my own, continuing my education, and being present for my family. None of those accomplishments happened overnight, and each one required consistency, sacrifice, and faith.
What sets me apart is the combination of my clinical experience, creativity, entrepreneurial mindset, and genuine desire to encourage others. I understand what it feels like to work toward a goal while managing real-life responsibilities, self-doubt, setbacks, and limited time. I don’t speak from a place of having everything figured out. I speak from experience, growth, and the willingness to keep showing up.
I’m known for being hardworking, compassionate, determined, and intentional. Whether I’m caring for a patient, building my business, pursuing my education, or encouraging another woman, I try to lead with purpose and authenticity. My goal is to remind people that they can be ambitious and still be human, that progress does not have to be perfect, and that their goals are worth continuing to pursue.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I feel is most important to my success is consistency.
I’ve learned that success is rarely the result of one major moment. More often, it comes from continuing to show up, even when progress feels slow, the outcome is uncertain, or life becomes demanding. Consistency has helped me grow as an emergency nurse, build my business, continue my education, and remain present for my family.
It has also taught me that I don’t have to do everything perfectly to keep moving forward. There have been seasons when I’ve had to adjust my pace, reevaluate my priorities, or start again. What mattered most was that I didn’t allow temporary setbacks to convince me to give up on my long-term goals.
