Conversations with Stephanie Robilio

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Robilio.

Stephanie Robilio

Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started under a beautiful tree in Palm Beach, Florida. I was 24 years old when I walked away from an unhealthy, toxic relationship and found the courage to begin the journey of healing and self-discovery. I would wake up and go on walks, only to find myself sitting under a stunning tree. Just me, my journal, and something to write with. It was there I discovered I’m a poet. Tapping into my writing ability is not only what saved my life but also gave me life.

This was the beginning for me. Before I knew it, I was in touch with my feelings. I became self-aware. I learned that it’s safe to question my beliefs and create new ones. With a lot of inner work and self-help, I transformed shame into self-love, and it’s what put me on the path of helping others do the same. My career started working with children in foster care, where I had the honor and privilege of being a part of the reunification and adoption process. Then, I became a therapist working with individuals struggling with addiction and mental health.

During this time, I learned about the impacts of trauma and became fascinated with knowing more. Today, I serve as the Chief Clinical Officer for Agape Behavioral Healthcare and feel incredibly blessed to work with the most amazing team within a beautiful community that is committed to healing from past pain and getting on the path of inner peace.

I have always been purpose and career driven and life has a funny way of unfolding. I met my incredible husband on the dancefloor at a dear friend’s wedding. We have been together for 7 years and married for four. A love story that I fall in love with over and over. We are expecting a baby this fall and over the moon!

To date, I have five published books: Unpack Your Bags, WellNow, Mindful Makeover, Painted Soul, and Bonafide Spirit. I’m also the host of The Mindful Living Podcast and in love with all things family and wellness.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road has been anything but smooth, and I’m so grateful for that because the detours and obstacles have been not only some of my greatest lessons but also the greatest opportunities. On the path of healing, I’ve fallen more times than I can count.

Self-doubt and insecurities are sneaky and come out of nowhere. I’ve had to lean into my inner wisdom and strength to pull myself out of some dark moments. I’ve also experienced rejection and have learned that it’s the universe’s way of redirecting me toward what’s truly meant for me.

Struggles are a part of the process, and it’s all about how we respond.

From struggling with my own mental health, family loss, and drama to overall life challenges, I always remind myself that I can’t control what’s beyond my control. My only job is to stay true to myself, hold myself accountable, and practice letting go over and over. I believe this is how we grow. This is how we evolve and become the best version of ourselves.

Thanks. What else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an author, podcast host, and the Chief Clinical Officer at Agape Behavioral Healthcare, specializing in trauma-informed care and wellness. I love what I do and feel honored and privileged to have the opportunity to hold a safe space for others as they experience their journey of healing and self-discovery. I absolutely love being a part of an awesome team at AGAPE.

I have so much fun teaching, learning, and growing together. I am the most proud of my ability to speak in public, as I was once a girl who was paralyzed by fear. I couldn’t walk to the bathroom in a restaurant without my hands and my palms sweating out of fear of who was looking at me and the fear of being judged. So, standing in front of hundreds of people today and speaking clearly and confidently reminds me of how far I’ve come and how proud I am of my inner child, my hero.

I think what sets me apart from others is my loving nature. It’s easy and natural for me to connect with others, and I truly see all people for who they are. I’ve been told I have the gift of healing and teaching, and this feels true to me. I thank God for this.

We’re always looking for lessons that can be learned from any situation, including tragic ones like the COVID-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
COVID-19 taught me that mental health problems and addiction don’t discriminate and can impact anyone, especially during such an uncertain time. It also taught me how important connection is. We need each other, and together, we are stronger.
