Today we’d like to introduce you to Shiketa Days
Hi Shiketa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our motivation to starting our nonprofit DDD2C and media platform Boss Up Visual Podcast aimed to address gun violence awareness that stems from a deeply personal and heartbreaking experience. Driven by the profound impact of losing our son Derrick Jr. at such a young age, I am compelled to channel our grief into positive action. Our goal is to raise awareness about the devastating consequences of gun violence, advocate for sensible gun control measures, and provide support to other families affected by similar tragedies. Through our nonprofit, we aim to honor our son’s memory by working towards a safer and more compassionate community, where the devastating effects of gun violence are acknowledged and addressed as well as economic issues. The Boss Up Visual Platform assist urban businesses with an accessible platform to exposed their brand and become visible by networking with other organizations. The platform also gives them a voice in the media to be seen and heard. Acknowledging their natural skills and talents.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the challenges we’ve faced is Not having an identity in the Nonprofit Miami market with lack of funding resources. Funding sometimes is limited to familiar faces and unlikely the value of your field work in the community as an organization.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I have always had a strong drive in leadership. Played many leadership roles in the community growing up playing sports at the park and at school. During my years in school I have participated in many clubs including academic activities. I am a very kind hearted person that is passionate about helping others succeed. I have received multiple rewards for sports and academics. Graduated in the top 50 of class of 2002 at Homestead Senior High. Growing up was a constant struggle to stay committed to a positive environment because of the violent crimes in our neighborhood and the uncertainty of safety attending school and walking home. As well as playing outside.
