Conversations with Shamir Sterlin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamir Sterlin.

Hi Shamir, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is simply putting in work. I grew up playing a multitude of sports, but found football to be the one that fits me best. As I got to high school, I continued to ball and went under recruited. Went to FIU, battled some injuries, and continually came back ready to prove that I belong. It wasn’t easy, of course, but that’s life; anything good never comes easy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and some struggles along the way were injuries and balancing my rigorous schooling and football schedule.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do a ton of community service; I serve for an organization called Pick Up for Cancer, where we go to local parks to beautify them while recycling aluminum cans that can be turned in for money that goes to Nicholas Children’s Hospital. I also do local food pantries and soup kitchens. Just anything that I can do. I’m most proud of my consistency in going out and serving the community every single week this summer. What makes me different is the amount of time I put into it and how intentional I am about it.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Football continues to grow in popularity, so I see new rules coming to the game to make it more entertaining for the fans.
