Conversations with Priscila Figueredo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscila Figueredo.

Hi Priscila , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Priscila Figueredo, and entrepreneurship has been part of my story for as long as I can remember. From a young age, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. That passion led me to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business from Florida International University, where I developed a strong foundation in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

While attending college, I worked as an Account Manager for a floral importing company. That experience gave me an inside look at the floral industry and allowed me to build relationships with growers and suppliers around the world. It was during that time that I recognized an opportunity to create something different and pursue a niche that I was truly passionate about.

Six years ago, I launched The Amarante, a floral studio specializing in preserved florals. I’ve always had a love for design and creativity, so becoming a florist was a natural extension of my career. Combining my background in the floral industry with my passion for design allowed me to create something unique.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of creating floral installations, custom arrangements for residential and commercial spaces, bridal bouquets, weddings, and event florals. I’ve also built a nationwide presence through Etsy, where I have maintained Best Seller status for the past six years. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with florists, designers, brides, gift-givers, and home décor enthusiasts across the country, shipping preserved florals for everything from special events to everyday styling.

Today, I ship nationwide while also serving Miami and South Florida, specializing in modern preserved floral arrangements for homes and commercial spaces. Preserved florals remain the heart of my business, allowing me to create long-lasting designs that bring beauty and personality into a space. I also create fresh floral arrangements upon request for events, gifts, subscriptions, and residential and commercial clients.

I love helping clients create beautiful spaces and celebrate meaningful moments through flowers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think entrepreneurship is ever a completely smooth road, and my journey has certainly had its challenges.

One of the biggest challenges has been building awareness around preserved florals. When I started The Amarante, preserved flowers were still a relatively niche product, and many people weren’t familiar with what they were or how they could be used. A lot of my journey has involved educating clients on the benefits of preserved florals and helping them see flowers not only as gifts, but also as long-lasting décor for homes, businesses, and events.

Like many small business owners, I’ve also worn every hat imaginable over the years. From sourcing products and creating designs to marketing, customer service, shipping, bookkeeping, and everything in between, there have been many seasons where I had to learn as I went. Building a business requires a level of adaptability that you can’t fully prepare for.

Another challenge has been balancing entrepreneurship with family life. As a wife, mother, and business owner, there are constant demands competing for your time and attention. Learning how to balance those responsibilities while continuing to grow a business has been one of the most rewarding and challenging parts of my journey.

That being said, every challenge has taught me something valuable. It’s strengthened my resilience, deepened my faith, and reinforced the importance of staying committed to a long-term vision. Looking back, I’m grateful for the obstacles because they’ve helped shape both me and my business into what they are today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At The Amarante, I specialize in modern preserved floral design for homes, commercial spaces, events, and gifting. While I also offer fresh florals upon request, preserved florals are at the heart of my business and what I am most known for.

My background in floral importing has given me a unique perspective and deep understanding of preserved botanicals. I source preserved flowers from growers around the world and use them to create designs that are both beautiful and long-lasting. Many people are surprised to learn that preserved flowers can maintain their beauty for months or even years, making them a unique alternative to traditional fresh flowers.

What sets my work apart is that I approach flowers as an element of design and décor. Whether I’m creating an arrangement for a home, styling a commercial space, designing a statement piece for a reception area, or creating florals for an event, I focus on how the arrangement will interact with the overall environment. My goal is always to create something that feels intentional, elevated, and tailored to the client and their space.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with homeowners, businesses, interior designers, brides, and clients across the country through my Etsy shop. I am especially proud of building a business that allows me to serve both local and nationwide clients while staying true to my creative vision. Maintaining Best Seller status on Etsy for six years and seeing clients return again and again for their homes, businesses, gifts, and events has been incredibly rewarding.

More than anything, I’m proud that I’ve been able to carve out a niche in the preserved floral industry and help people see flowers as more than something temporary. Whether it’s a meaningful gift, a statement piece, or a finishing touch in a beautifully designed space, I love creating florals that leave a lasting impression.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think we’re going to continue seeing a shift toward more intentional and sustainable design choices. Consumers are becoming increasingly thoughtful about what they bring into their homes and businesses, and they’re looking for pieces that are both beautiful and long-lasting.

Within the floral industry specifically, I believe preserved florals will continue to grow in popularity. As people become more familiar with the quality, versatility, and longevity of preserved flowers, they’re beginning to see them as more than an alternative to fresh flowers. Preserved florals are becoming a design element in their own right, especially for home décor, commercial spaces, hospitality, and styling projects.

I also think we’ll continue to see the lines between floristry, interior design, and styling become more intertwined. More clients are looking for cohesive spaces and want florals that feel like an intentional part of the overall design rather than an afterthought. Florals are increasingly being viewed as décor and a way to add texture, warmth, and personality to a space.

Another trend I’m seeing is a move away from mass-produced décor and toward more customized, artisan-made pieces. Clients want unique designs that reflect their personality, brand, or home aesthetic, and I think that desire for personalization will continue to grow over the next several years.

Overall, I believe the future of the industry is centered around thoughtful design, sustainability, and creating lasting experiences. Those trends align closely with why I’ve always been drawn to preserved florals and why I believe they will continue to have a growing place in both residential and commercial design.
