Today we’d like to introduce you to Pretty Ri$ki
Hi Pretty, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been passionate about music and expressing myself creatively. Growing up in Atlanta with Bengali roots, I found myself constantly blending cultures, which eventually led me to hip-hop. I started rapping in Bengali as a way to bring a fresh, unique sound to the industry while staying connected to my heritage. I didn’t want to follow the crowd—I wanted to make music that felt authentic to me and something that would push boundaries. Over time, I focused on releasing tracks that reflect both my culture and the fun I have with my music.
As I built my brand, I also began merging my music with my content creation, showing not only my artistic side but also my lifestyle. That balance has opened up a new lane for me in the industry, and I’m excited about where this journey will take me. I’m here to make sure people can vibe to something different and authentic, and to bring a new flavor to hip-hop that reflects who I am and where I come from.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey so much more rewarding. One of the biggest challenges was finding my unique voice in an industry that often encourages fitting into a specific mold. As a Bengali rapper, it wasn’t easy at first to break through or be understood, but I stayed true to myself and my culture. There were moments of doubt, where I questioned whether people would embrace something different in hip-hop.
Another struggle has been finding the proper resources— I’ve been doing everything myself—creating the content, recording, mixing and mastering, producing the songs, and getting them uploaded. On top of that, I handled all the promo and marketing, which can be overwhelming when you’re doing it solo.
There were times I felt stretched thin, trying to manage all these aspects while staying true to my vision and sound. But through it all, I’ve gained so much experience and learned how to navigate the industry on my own terms. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s taught me the importance of resilience and believing in my craft, even when resources are limited.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is a reflection of my culture, creativity, and passion for blending different worlds. I’m a Bengali rapper from Atlanta, and I specialize in bringing a unique fusion of Bengali culture and hip-hop to the music scene. I focus on creating music that’s authentic to who I am, while also pushing boundaries in an industry that tends to follow trends. I’m known for rapping in Bengali, mixing those influences with modern rap sounds, and creating a vibe that feels fresh and different.
What I’m most proud of is being able to release my music independently and staying true to myself throughout the process. Every track I put out is a piece of who I am, and I don’t let outside opinions or expectations sway my vision. It’s all about having fun with it and offering something new to the hip-hop community.
What sets me apart is the cultural fusion in my sound. It’s rare to hear Bengali in rap, and I’m proud to represent my heritage in a genre that has historically lacked that voice. I’ve also built my brand through content creation, which allows me to connect with my audience in more ways than just music. I’m here to bring something different, both visually and sonically, and that’s what keeps me going.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Miami is that there’s always something to do, no matter the mood. I’m there every month and even on my chill days, I can hit up one of the beautiful beaches—whether it’s partying on South Beach for the vibrant energy or Key Biscayne for something more laid-back. It’s like the city never sleeps, and there’s always something new to experience.
What stands out to me is the art, music, and culture that’s infused into every corner of Miami. You can walk down the street and see murals, pop-up art installations, or hear live music, and that keeps me inspired as a creative. It’s a city that thrives on diversity, which reflects in everything from the food to the festivals.
As for what I like least, I’d say the traffic can get a bit intense, especially when you’re trying to move around. But honestly, the energy of the city makes up for it—there’s always something worth checking out, so it balances out in the end.
