Conversations with Nina Romero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Romero

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Real estate has always intrigued me. Even as a teenager, I was fascinated by homes, the way they were designed, how people chose them, and the emotions tied to finding the perfect place. But my true introduction to real estate came when I moved to Florida as an international college student, and my parents made a decision that would shape my future.

Instead of paying rent, they invested in a home for my sister and me. At the time, it was simply a practical decision, but looking back, it was my first real lesson in building wealth through real estate. I became involved in the process, fascinated by every step the negotiations, the financial planning, even the challenges that came with it. Going through that experience firsthand made me realize how much I enjoyed every part of it.

But when it came time to sell the property as I prepared to return to Colombia, I realized how much we didn’t know. There were details we hadn’t fully understood and things that could have been handled differently. I wished we had someone who truly guided us through the process, someone who could have helped us make better decisions. That experience stuck with me, and I knew one day I wanted to be the person who provided that kind of support to others.

After graduating, I moved back to Colombia, where after a few years I stepped into the real estate industry. Working as a broker manager, I gained hands on experience working with developers and learning the ins and outs of new construction. Later, as a sales director for a development company, I learned how to market properties effectively and worked closely with international investors.

Through these roles, I developed a deep understanding of market strategy, international transactions, and the needs of buyers and sellers on a global scale. But as my career evolved, I found myself drawn back to Miami, not just because of the opportunities, but because it felt like the right place to grow both personally and professionally.

When I returned to Miami, I knew I wanted to take everything I had learned, my international experience, my understanding of investments, and my passion for real estate; and use it to help people make smarter, more informed decisions. Becoming a licensed real estate agent was the first step, but my true mission was to provide the level of guidance I once wished I had.

Now, with over ten years in the business, including four years as part of Graber Realty Group, I’ve had the privilege of helping buyers and sellers navigate the real estate process with confidence and care. I take pride in combining my international perspective with local market knowledge, making my clients feel informed and supported at every step.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Real estate in Miami is anything but easy. It’s an incredibly competitive market with a high volume of agents, constant fluctuations, and clients who are often making some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Standing out and building a strong business takes time, consistency, and the ability to adapt.

One of the biggest challenges is market unpredictability. Interest rates, inventory levels, and buyer demand can shift quickly, meaning what worked one year may not work the next. As an agent, I have to stay ahead of trends, continuously educate myself, and be prepared to pivot strategies to meet my clients’ needs.

it’s a 24/7 commitment. Clients expect responsiveness, whether it’s a buyer wanting to see a property immediately or a seller needing updates on their listing. There’s also a mental and emotional aspect; deals can fall through, negotiations can be tough, and not every transaction is smooth. Staying patient, professional, and focused despite setbacks is crucial.

Networking is also a challenge. Building a reputation and earning trust in a city filled with experienced agents takes time. It’s not just about selling homes, it’s about creating lasting relationships, showing clients that I bring value beyond the transaction, and proving that I can handle complex deals with confidence.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a real estate agent in Miami, helping both local and international clients buy, sell, and invest in some of the city’s most exciting neighborhoods. My focus is on residential and investment properties, particularly in Miami Shores, Biscayne Park, El Portal, the Upper East Side, Edgewater, Brickell, Midtown, and Downtown. I have a strong background in working with foreign investors, guiding them through the process of buying, selling, and reinvesting in Miami real estate.

What sets me apart is that I know what it’s like to be on the other side of a transaction. I’ve been the buyer figuring out the process. I’ve been the seller trying to make the best financial move. I take the time to educate my clients, so they feel empowered, not overwhelmed. And because I speak both Spanish and English, I can connect with a wide range of people, making sure they feel understood and supported every step of the way.

At the end of the day, real estate isn’t just about closing deals, it’s about helping people build their future, find their place, and make confident decisions. That’s what I love about what I do.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is when we would visit my grandparents every Sunday. It was a tradition that brought the whole family together, cousins, aunts, uncles, everyone. We would gather at their house for a big family lunch, and the atmosphere was always filled with laughter and love. Afterward, we’d play games, tell stories, and just enjoy each other’s company. It was a time to bond, relax, and appreciate the closeness of family. Those Sundays were easily the highlight of my week, and they’ve stayed with me as some of the most cherished memories.
