Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Rodriguez.
Natalie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Natalie Rodriguez and I am a 27-year-old Miami native, first responder and Latina! I am the sole owner and photographer of Natalierodriguezphotog! My journey with photography started over 12 years ago when my nephew Jayden was born and I was gifted the Nikon J1 for Christmas. I had no idea what I was doing but I knew I absolutely loved the idea of taking pictures, freezing the moments in time, and being able to look back on them and remember that exact moment.
I began to use this application that everyone loves to call YouTube university. I YouTubed absolutely everything I could to learn about angles, posing, lighting, composition, white balance, ISO, f-stop, shutter speed, and how different lens can make for different images. My favorite lens I am shooting with right now is my 85mm 1.8 on my Sony a7iii. I have attended several workshops, seminars, and photographed clients for free and have spent an excessive amount of hours on my own free time and dime to perfect my craft. I specialize in engagement, maternity, newborn, wedding, portraits and event photography.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road! I don’t think any successful business is thought about overnight, created, and runs smoothly without any hiccups. Some challenges I have faced were environmental. And not owning a studio. I have to travel to my client’s home to photograph their newborn, which makes the environment a little more comfortable for parents and the babies.
Some things I recommend for my clients and anyone reading this is when a photographer is coming to your home to photograph you or your family, listen to them! The rule of thumb is if you have a toddler that runs around and is not going to be part of the photographs, try finding a babysitter for them. It makes the environment much easier to work in, especially when handling a newborn.
Do not bring your entire family to watch the shoot!! Quiet time/peaceful environment is extremely important to creating beautiful images that your family can enjoy later when you have the final result! I can’t tell you how much equipment I have broken for parents not finding a sitter for their toddler, or simply just watching them and a crowed room. However, it’s all part of the process and I have embraced every second of it!

I am a Photographer! I specialize in engagement, maternity, newborn, wedding, portraits and event photography. I love capturing love, happiness, laughter and creating memories for you and your family and friends to have and hold forever! I thrive in creating unique and stress-free experiences for my clients. I want all of my clients to feel as beautiful as they truly are!! I have an insane amount of attention to detail. I am always excited to work, meet new people and I am definitely not shy! I always strive to be extremely accommodating, making sure my work is original, professional and affordable.
I’m most proud of where I am right now in comparison to where I started. Everyone starts somewhere! And I’m definitely proud to say I’m now on the wedding wire, the knot, Zola, I have photographed over 12 newborns in the last two years, which some were during a pandemic, I have photographed countless maternity shoots, am also now photographing school graduation portraits. I have partnered with countless creatives to assist them with their work. I’m just so proud that I am continuing to thrive and make my small business grow.
What sets me apart, my work is original. I consider my editing style to be very natural, modern, and clean. I treat all of my clients like family! I thrive in creating stress-free environments, I know that the day of weddings, newborn shoots, big events, birthing days are extremely stressful already! As a photographer, I have caught myself helping set up decorations, giving ideas of where things should go, giving water to people, and doing things prior to the shoot to help my clients be at ease. I am a helper at heart and that will never change about me.
