Today we’d like to introduce you to MeyChen Chang.
MeyChen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a young girl, I would admire all of the beautiful photographs my grandfather would take. He had great vision to frame wonderful shots that I would gaze upon hours on end; They were some of the most stunning photos I had ever seen! This instilled in me great inspiration to try my hand, or eye rather, at photography. That began my lifelong journey to harness my creative drive through the lens of a camera. Refining my skills with every shot! Today I continue this journey in my career as a professional that so far has been quite thrilling and innovative. I hope to one day inspire just as my grandfather did to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a short Asian woman, I have certainly faced a few struggles along the way. Chief among them has been being overlooked for looking too youthful and just how heavy some of the equipment can be! The saying never judges a book by its cover should really make a comeback. I may look young, but I have had many experiences and continue to build upon it every chance I get! As for the heavy equipment, well… I’m not afraid of taking two trips!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer and creative director with fashion editorial as my specialty! The extravagant sets and poses, along with those wonderful looks, create an incredible vision to be captured. I put my heart and creativity into my shoots which makes me very proud of my published magazine work. One of the most beautiful aspects of this field is the opportunity to meet spectacular individuals. I am proud to say that I call some of these individuals friends!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Great question! I believe true success to be a combination of certain things coming together. In no specific order, Recognition for your work, Inspiring others even if it’s just one person, Enjoying what you do every day by being able to come in with a clear mind and open heart. To be successful means to be fulfilled by doing the things you are most passionate about. To that end, I urge you, dear reader, to follow your passions!
