Today we’d like to introduce you to Magda Pena.
Hi Magda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was in the medical field before, working career service at a medical technical school and they shut down. So I started working at a beauty school in career services and grew an interest in the hair industry. So I went to school full time and graduated in less than a year. Took my state license and happily passed on the first go.
Worked at a couple places and found my home at Maggie The Salon, which I’ve been at now for 6 years. Ritual in the hair industry has been about 13 years or more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Early in struggles was formulating color and then one day at a training… I had an A-HA moment. Now in on autopilot when it comes to formulating color.
Also growing client, one client at a time, it’s about then trusting and about showing them confidence in what I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m in the business of making people feel more confident with their hair, I’m a hairstylist. I’m known for my layer cuts. They don’t call them MAGGY LAYERS for no reason. I’ve developed an easier technique because I’m short and I teach this technique at my salon to our new recruits.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I can be my own worst critic but this only fuels me to do better! I’m also a lil OCD about my cutting technique. I strive for EVERY cut to be perfect everytime.
