Today we’d like to introduce you to Lometa Campbell and Shenna Shervington.
Lometa and Shenna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Lometa Campbell. I am a wife and a mother of two and six bonus children which make us the Campbell Crew. I’ve lived in South Florida for almost six years. In 2019 when our world changed, I wanted to find something to keep me busy and to keep my mind on all things good all things that gave me peace. I have always been the romantic type, leaving notes for my Husband, putting rose petals on our bed, lighting candles and playing music, etc… In December of 2019 for my Husband’s birthday, I decided to give him a drive by birthday celebration however, I wanted it to be over the top. So, I borrowed my niece’s tent and pulled items from our house for a front yard picnic. The reaction from my Husband was absolutely priceless and when our friends and family drove by they were AMAZED at the set up. Everyone stopped they pulled out chairs sat on the sidewalk and made it at real party LOL!!! I knew then that I was on to something this birthed The Perfect Picnic, I wanted to bring people back together with laughter, love and peace all while feeling safe.
My name is Shenna Shervington. I’m a wife of 30 + years, mother of three amazing children and a native Floridian. Like many people, the COVID pandemic disrupted my normal life routine, but it also provided the jump start of an idea I felt passionate about. Forced to quarantine, people were missing out on date night, girls’ night, birthdays, anniversaries, and just a space to relax and unwind. My partner and I love to create and decorate, so we discussed how to bring those moments, memories and joy back into people’s lives in a luxurious and safe setting. Believing in our talents and passions, we jumped feet first and The Perfect Picnic was created.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Because we are a new business, we struggle with the worth of our business. We want to meet people where they are (due to the state of the economy) while still not selling ourselves short. We had to realize you cannot undervalue quality and the pure joy we bring our clients during these difficult times we’re all facing.
The Perfect Picnic curates luxurious styled picnics for guests to safely enjoy. We immerse people in an outdoor experience on another level of comfort and style with plush pillows and a dine in adventure. We are most proud of the memorable moments we have helped create for our clients; from anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine’s Day, date night, movie night and so much more.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We focus on being different and standing out. There are many things that set us apart from other companies, one of the main aspects being the way we bridge the gap between pre and post COVID era. We always begin by asking ourselves, how can we recreate that feeling of togetherness and excitement during this particular time? Making people feel special in that moment and showing close attention to detail is the key ingredient to setting us apart. We specialize in given our clients a personal touch to the picnics. We make a lot of our centerpieces, we give positive affirmation notes, we give them the color theme of their choice. We are proud when we get that OMG reaction from our clients, and we get that every single time!!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We are new business owners and still looking for advice. However, our advice would be to stay focused when things get hard, and they will. When you ask yourself these questions: What in the world am I doing? Did I do the right thing? Your answers should always be: I am following my dream and my heart, Am I making people happy!!! Yes, I am. God Blessed us with a talent and we going to use it!!!
When it keeps you up at night and your mind is racing with ideas after ideas, then know that it’s all worth it!!! Keep pushing, keep grinding, keep praying, keep believing in yourself and your dream!!! IT’s NOT EASY BUT IT’S WORTH IT!!!
