Conversations with Lara Klart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Klart.

Hi Lara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Lara Klart’s musical journey, currently based in Miami, Florida, began under the influence of the rich musical heritage instilled by her mother and sister, tracing back to her maternal grandfather — a foundational figure in her family’s artistic legacy.

Her entry into national television music competitions in Ecuador, along with her early experience as a backing vocalist in a rock band at just 14 years old, showcased her wide-ranging musical spectrum. Her influences span Bolero, Tango, Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Rap, Trance, Flamenco, Classical Music, and Salsa. These formative experiences shaped her musicality and compositional skills, allowing her to develop a profound understanding of diverse genres — ultimately leading her to create a distinctive hybrid style within electronic music.

Her international debut took place on the main stage of Dreamfields Mexico, where she shared the spotlight with electronic music icons such as Tiësto, Alesso, Oliver Heldens, Vini Vici, and Timmy Trumpet. In 2019, Lara made her first appearance at Ultra Music’s Resistance in San José, Costa Rica, performing alongside leading techno figures including Adam Beyer and Charlotte de Witte. Performances at Factory Town’s ARTCORE Showcase and Dreambeach Festival Spain propelled her to stages across Latin America, the United States, and Europe.

Since 2017, Lara has navigated through various electronic genres — including House, Deep House, Melodic Techno, Psytrance, Ambient, Hard Techno, and Acid Techno — while maintaining her commitment to the underground and melodic essence that define her artistic ethos.

Today, Lara Klart defines herself as a hybrid DJ and producer, merging and producing Psytrance, Techno, Neo Techno, and Hard-Trance Techno.

Her artistic path has been further enriched through collaborations with Todd Terry and Giorgia Angiuli, as well as releases on renowned labels such as Artcore Records (founded by Indira Paganotto), Terminator Records (founded by Todd Terry), and Janus Rekordz, her own label established in January 2024.

In both 2019 and 2024, Lara composed the official soundtracks for the prestigious Ecuadorian beauty pageant organizations Miss Ecuador World and Miss Universo Ecuador, both broadcast on national television.

Throughout her career, Lara has been a steadfast advocate for philanthropic causes, using the power of electronic music to support charitable initiatives — a commitment that has led to numerous appearances on national television, universities, and philanthropic institutions throughout Ecuador.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. It has been a slow and difficult road. Although I’ve been fortunate to have people who have given me a hand along the way, it’s been deeply painful to leave my family and my country behind. I’m constantly working on self-acceptance and learning to feel that I am enough.

There has been a lot of rejection. When I started pursuing this dream, there weren’t many women in the industry, and I had to do everything possible to fit in and earn my place. I’ve poured my soul into this path and sacrificed everything for it.

Now, I feel the industry often focuses more on faces and bodies rather than artistry — I don’t want to generalize, but that’s what many in the new generation seem to seek. It’s painful to witness, because it means you have to work twice as hard to prove yourself, without losing who you truly are.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a DJ, music producer, and multitalented artist known as Lara Klart. My work explores the intersection between spirituality, human emotion, and electronic sound. I specialize in blending genres such as Techno, Psytrance, Neo Techno, and Hard-Trance Techno — creating a hybrid sound that merges cinematic atmospheres with underground energy.

What makes my work unique is the emotional depth behind it. Every set and production I create carries a story — a journey of transformation, light, and darkness. My goal is not just to make people dance, but to awaken something in them.

I’m proud of staying true to my artistic essence despite the challenges of this industry. I’ve had the honor of performing on the main stage of Dreamfields Mexico, at Ultra Music’s Resistance in Costa Rica, and at Dreambeach Festival in Spain, among others. My music has been released on labels like Artcore Records (Indira Paganotto), Terminator Records (Todd Terry), and Janus Rekordz, my own label founded in 2024.

Beyond music, I’ve composed soundtracks for Miss Universo Ecuador and Miss Ecuador World, and I’ve used my platform to support philanthropic causes and inspire others to connect with their higher selves through sound.

What sets me apart is that everything I do is rooted in authenticity and purpose — I see music as energy, and every frequency I create carries an intention of awakening.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
For me, risk has always been a part of growth. Every meaningful chapter in my life began with a leap of faith — even when I had no guarantee of how things would turn out.

Leaving my country, my family, the change to have my own family and everything familiar behind to pursue a career in music was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. There were moments of uncertainty, rejection, and fear, but those experiences shaped my strength and my sound. I’ve learned that comfort kills evolution.

As an artist, every creation is a risk — exposing your soul through frequencies and trusting that it will reach the right hearts. I don’t see risk as something to avoid; I see it as a doorway to transformation. You can’t awaken others if you’re not willing to walk through the unknown yourself.
