Today we’d like to introduce you to Ksenia Shimonova.
Hi Ksenia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Honestly, my skincare journey started with my own acne. After years of trying different treatments and not seeing the results I wanted, I decided to take matters into my own hands and went to Christine Valmy esthetics school in New York. That decision changed my life, i realized rode awaya that it will become my passion and for the past 10+ years I’ve been helping others feel confident in their skin.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I came to the United States by myself in my early 20s as an immigrant, with English as my second language, and had to build my life and career from scratch. About a year and a half ago, I made the decision to move from New York to Florida, which honestly felt like a second immigration.
In the esthetics industry, moving means starting over and building a new clientele from the ground up. There were moments when I felt exhausted, lost, and unsure of what was next. One day, I unexpectedly lost my full-time job, and it became a turning point for me. I realized that no one was coming to save me, and that if I wanted the life and career I dreamed of, I had to build it myself.
That experience pushed me to take a chance on myself and start working independently. It was scary, but it also taught me resilience, adaptability, and confidence. Looking back, some of my biggest challenges became the reason I grew the most.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a licensed esthetician with over 10 years of experience in New York and Florida. I specialize in customized facials, acne treatments, chemical peels, and advanced skincare focused on real, long-term results.
What I’m most proud of is helping people feel confident in their skin. Many of my clients come to me after years of frustration, and seeing their skin and confidence transform is the most rewarding part of my work.
What sets me apart is that I truly listen. I combine professional knowledge with a personalized approach, and my clients often tell me they feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely cared for.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be brave. Put yourself out there. Take the trip, start the business, make the move, have the conversation. Life is too short to wait for the perfect moment.
Nobody is coming to save us, and that’s actually empowering because it means we get to create the life we want. Most importantly, enjoy the journey. The highs, the lows, the uncertainty -it’s all part of life.
