Conversations with Kris Rodriguez Alcala

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Rodriguez Alcala

Hi Kris, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Kris Rodriguez, I’m originally from Venezuela, and I’ve been living in Miami for 17 years. I’m a chef and the proud mom of Gabriel, who’s 6, and Paulina, who’s 3.

Last year, I was baking cupcakes for my kids but had a meeting at their school, so I asked my husband to keep an eye on them while I stepped out. Unfortunately, he fell asleep and didn’t hear the oven timer go off. By the time he woke up, the cupcakes were darker than usual. When I got home and saw them, I didn’t want to waste them, so I sliced and toasted them. The result was amazing! My family, friends, and I loved them so much that I started experimenting with new flavors.

That’s how we now have five delicious varieties: Original, Chocolate Chip, Almond, Cranberry, and Pistachio.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been easy, but after over a year of hard work, we are now available on Amazon nationwide and in several supermarkets across Miami, Tampa, and Orlando. Getting to this point has required a lot of dedication and sacrifice, many late nights and weekends where my husband and I had to stay home working while asking family and friends to help with the kids, since they’re still young, they need a lot of attention and activities.
However, seeing how the brand has grown and the positive response we’re receiving brings us a lot of satisfaction

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the founder of Toastaditas, a brand of toasted cookies that I created by accident while experimenting in the kitchen. As a chef, I’ve always been passionate about creating high-quality food, and Toastaditas is no exception. The cookies are made with real butter, free of preservatives, oils, and high fructose corn syrup, which is something I’m really proud of.

What sets us apart is not only the care we put into using clean, wholesome ingredients but also the unique textures and flavors we offer. We’ve developed five different varieties: Original, Chocolate Chip, Almond, Cranberry, and Pistachio, each with its own twist.

I’m most proud of how Toastaditas has grown from an idea born out of a kitchen mishap to being sold on Amazon and in supermarkets across Florida. Seeing people enjoy something I’ve created is the most rewarding part of what I do.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Without a doubt, my husband Eduardo has been a key part of this entire journey. From the moment he accidentally fell asleep and gave rise to Toastaditas, to where we are today, he has been essential every step of the way. Eduardo is a businessman, and his expertise has been invaluable in turning Toastaditas into the successful business it is today. He’s always there, giving me his full support and helping in every possible way. I honestly don’t think we would be where we are without him.

My family and close friends have also been crucial. Being able to rely on their help whenever I have a commitment with Toastaditas and knowing they are always there to assist with my children has been a true blessing.
