Today we’d like to introduce you to Khadijah Wallace.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, I started doing hair when I was about 15 and I always loved just to create extension looks anything that had to do with the extension I wanted to do it just to be able to say I did that so when I was about 17 stopped going to school and I was more interested in going to cosmetology school so I ended up talking my mom into letting me go to cosmetology school because she didn’t want me to go to cosmetology school she wanted me to finish school and graduated but it was just something that I wasn’t interested in at the time.
So I ended up going to the Hollywood Institute of beauty career and when I signed up I was so excited but some wear along the way I got lost in life and ended up stopping going to school and then I went back eventually and then I got pregnant and stopped going again and then after I had my daughter I realize that I had to really get my life together and I always know that doing hair is something that I love to do something that I know I’m good at.
I can really make money and also love my job at the same time so I went back to school after I had my daughter. I was 21 at the time and I graduated from cosmetology school and eventually began to build my brand at first I was working from home and about three different shops for a couple of years until I realize that I really didn’t like working for anyone.
I just wanted to separate work from home so I started working with a friend of mine, Olajide Wilkerson, who became my life coach in mentor and she really just help me learn not only doing the hair but the business part of actually running a salon and that’s when I decided that I was going to open my own salon suite and that’s what I did and now business is better than ever and I’m only hoping to expand and that’s about it The journey only continues for quality Katie’s
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road it’s had it’s up and downs I think that my biggest struggle was working for someone before I had my own salon trying to build my brand and be a mother as well as having enough time to do everything and building a solid team.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hairstylist I specialize in basically everything that has to do with hair other than braiding I do not do braids I am known for my extensions such as bond in sew-in lace wigs Color and bob cuts I also have a human hair brand where I provide bundles frontals full lace wigs and frontal wigs
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come with building my Business and how far business come and that I just stopped being afraid to step out on fear and I’m actually doing this that I just stayed strong and didn’t let anyone or anything come in between where I was trying to get in life
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was always quiet to myself but still, on the edgy side I didn’t like being told what to do so I just kinda did what I wanted to do so I guess you can say I was a bit free-spirited but very sweet and quiet I always had an interest for music and hair.
