Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Schmertzler.
Hi Kevin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started getting into photography around 2020 when I got ahold of a buddies old camera. I started out just doing street photography until a good friend who runs a tactical medical course asked me to attend and bring my camera. Apparently all the students liked my gritty moody style lol so I started getting into the tactical community as a photographer. I then transitioned into helping my former CrossFit gym get some photos. The rest is now history lol.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. Like most creators I was always hard on my work. I would doubt my ability to create a good photo but that lead to me constantly looking to improve my skills and take a ton of classes online.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in tactical and fitness photography along with product work. I had a really cool opportunity to photograph some cool brands like Sheepdog Mics, Zero Foxtrot, and even got an opportunity to photograph my favorite band Silverstein.
What were you like growing up?
Quiet but once you got to know me a chatter box. Lol. I wrestled for my high school and worked at a surf and skate clothing shop. I loved music. Still do to this day. New music is like Christmas to me.
