Conversations with Katie Breard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Breard, an online pre and postnatal fitness specialist.

Hi Katie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

While I have always been involved in the fitness coaching space, it wasn’t always my profession. I spent the first ten years of adulthood working in advertising.

In 2019, my entire (life and the role fitness had in my life) completely changed. 27 weeks into my second pregnancy, my water broke three months early. In the ER, I learned that I hadn’t gone into labor, but to keep the baby alive, I would live in the hospital on bed rest until he was born.

My son and I survived the months that followed, but they changed my entire world perspective and body! I left the hospital in the weakest shape of my life and had no idea where to turn to get back in shape after this pregnancy.

I dedicated the months following to learning everything about pre and postnatal fitness. I realized how specific a time it is for women and how little information is out there!

This experience drove me to leave advertising and go back to school full time (with a 3-month-old!) to study physical fitness and nutrition and specialize in pre and postnatal health.

I started my brand Method right after. Today I coach women globally to get in the best shape of their lives – all from home!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

While I always wanted to train moms online Covid hitting was a big driver for turning my business 100% online.

There were some bumps in the road to mastering the best platform for 1:1 online coaching. I wanted to make sure pregnant women and moms had a very bespoke experience, and they needed to have the best form cues and communicate with me to stay accountable.

Today my online coaching platform does all that and works extremely well for pregnant women and busy moms.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

I specialize in coaching moms on the most effective and safe ways to get in shape during pregnancy and postpartum. Unfortunately, there is very little info in America about what is safe or not in the postpartum fitness space, and almost all women are cleared for exercise without being educated on what they should and shouldn’t do.

As an example, did you know that in the first eight months postpartum, doing sit-ups can cause ab separation (where your front core muscles pull apart) and make their cores look bigger? Ugh!

Many of the exercises I coach are “different” but highly safe and effective. combining the core routines I have developed with strength training gives moms the best bang for their buck (or extremely previous time!)

Core Concierge, my 1:1 online coaching platform allows women to ask me questions anytime. It also provides weekly workouts and custom menus to get you in fantastic shape.

What are your plans for the future?

I can’t wait to see the business grow in the coming years from my online 1:1 coaching platform and live group coaching programs. I am already coaching women all over the US and in Asia and Europe, but I want to see more!

Aside from business, my goal is to enjoy every moment of my time with my young family. I have two little toddlers, and I am constantly shocked by how fast it’s going.
