Conversations with Juanjose Rangel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juanjose Rangel.

Juanjose, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started working in an advertising agency managing social media accounts when the industry wasn’t what it is today. That’s when I decided to open my own Instagram account. Not too long after I got an offer to write for a fashion magazine called Mooze that covered the different fashion weeks. When I attended these events, I started getting some attention for what I would wear. I continued posting on my social accounts and decided to start my own blog. It’s been over eight years that I’ve successfully lived off social media campaigns, working with my favorite brands, and having the blessing of working on my own. I can say I’ve grown with social media.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like everyone else, I’ve had my own struggles with mental health. Working in the fashion industry and hyper-focusing on my appearance led me to develop eating disorders and depression. With time I was able to heal and it’s why now I not only share good looks, but I take time to write what inspires my soul. If anybody takes the time to scroll down my feed, they can see my evolution…

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a lifestyle content creator that gives people a glance of my heart and adventures through beautiful photos and outfits. I’ve learned from experience that I need to enjoy what I do. Whether is making paid content or posting about what I’m passionate about at the moment. My fashion sense is timeless and it’s what a girlfriend would like her boyfriend to dress like. I develop social media campaigns with brands. It’s been a blessing to work with brands that I’ve always loved.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Use social media as your personal brand. Instead of overspending time on people’s pages. Tune in to what you have going on in your life (and heart) to produce content that you can be proud about. There is always space for new social media stars, but only those who are authentic and are not afraid of evolving with time are the ones that will stay.
