Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Johnson.
Hi Jessie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I didn’t start out as a photographer. I was a nurse for years, and after we sold a family business, my husband and I found ourselves in a season where we both decided to build something of our own.
As a mom of four, I’ve always been drawn to the in-between moments. The way your toddler reaches for your hand, the chaos that somehow feels like home, the little things you think you’ll remember forever but don’t. That’s what led me to photography. Not just taking photos, but telling a family’s story as it really is.
I care deeply about moms being in the frame, not just behind the camera. And over time, that grew into something more. I became really passionate about helping families actually do something with their photos, getting them off their phones and into their homes as albums and artwork their kids can see and hold onto.
In mid 2025, our world shifted when my son was diagnosed with leukemia. It changed the way I see everything. It made the everyday moments feel even more meaningful.
Now, more than ever, I feel a responsibility to help other moms see that too. Because you just never know when life is going to change. The moments we’re living right now, no matter how messy, are the ones worth holding onto.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Running a household with four kids, supporting my husband’s financial planning business, and learning the ins and outs of building a luxury photography experience all at the same time has stretched me in a lot of ways.
Then, in the middle of it all, my son was diagnosed with leukemia. This season has changed everything. It has forced me to slow down, to reprioritize, and to really look at what matters most.
There have been hard days and days where balancing it all feels overwhelming. These challenges have also shaped the heart behind my work. They’ve pushed me to be more intentional, more present, and more connected to the families I serve.
It’s what fuels me now. Helping other moms hold onto this season of life, even when it feels chaotic or uncertain, because I know just how meaningful these moments really are.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a family and motherhood photographer, and I specialize in maternity, newborn, and young families. My sessions are very relaxed and connection focused. I’m not looking for perfectly posed or perfectly behaved kids. I’m there to document how your family actually feels in this season.
What I’m most known for is creating a really guided, easy experience for moms. From helping with outfits to gently leading the session so it never feels stressful, I want it to feel like time you actually get to enjoy with your family, not something you have to manage.
I’m also really passionate about what happens after the session. I don’t believe your photos should just sit on your phone. I help families turn those moments into albums and artwork that live in their homes and become part of their everyday life.
What I’m most proud of is the feeling my clients walk away with. That they felt present, that it was easier than they expected, and that they now have something tangible to hold onto from a season that goes by so quickly.
What sets me apart is that I truly see the bigger picture and I offer a full service experience. This isn’t just about photos. It’s about preserving what your family feels like right now and making sure it doesn’t get lost in the busyness of life.
Any big plans?
I’m really looking forward to continuing to grow and refine the experience I offer my clients. In the near future, I’m excited to expand my product offerings even more.
I’m also focused on continuing to elevate the full experience from start to finish so that everything feels thoughtful, guided, and easy for moms. From the first conversation all the way to artwork delivered in their home, I want it to feel seamless.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to serving more families in a deeper way. Slowing things down, being intentional, and creating space for moments that actually matter.
