Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessi Arango.
Jessi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started when I got engaged, I couldn’t find any wedding invitations I liked and that gave the essence and feel of where I was getting married (Antigua, Guatemala). Every shop had cookie cutter invites and there were no customizable options.
After tons of store visits, I decided to design them on my own ( I had studied architecture and was currently working for a small firm so I had all the design programs) Only thing was I had to find someone to print for me, after searching and searching I finally went with a printer from Missouri! Needless to say the entire process was grueling but at the end my invitations came so unique and exactly what I wanted. After that my friends and family asked for help with their weddings, and soon the birth of my little design studio came about out of my house. I later sold my wedding dress and bought my first mini Letterpress machine! This gave me the opportunity to really offer my clients a design to print finish and the opportunity to make truly beautiful unique cards. Soon after that my little business grew so much I had to move to a location. and thats how Letterpress girls began. 🙂
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been a little bumpy along the way, Raising 2 kids and still trying to create new things every season has its challenges because my first obligation is to my kids.
Covid was really hard because we had to close for a bit and we didn’t know what was going to happen but our amazing clients kept our little shop going and we are so thankful to them.
With that said God has completely guided my path every step of the way, through the lows and the highs I put my trust in him and he just works through us.
Every item we make and sell, is to help others in different ways through him.
without him nothing I do is possible and our shop is deeply rooted in the love for our community and spreading that love to others through our work.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a specialty design & print shop dedicated to creating custom artwork that tells a story. At our studio, we believe the most meaningful moments deserve beautiful details. We specialize in custom artwork and fine printing, offering everything from timeless letterpress and foil stamping to modern flat printed cut paper edges on exquisite papers.
We also collaborate with local crafters and artisans, to create unique, heartfelt gifts that can’t be found anywhere else. Our passion is creating keepsakes that are personal, memorable, and made with intention. Handcrafted pieces that leave a lasting impression.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Trusting in God has definitely been the biggest lesson of my life. For a long time, I thought I had everything under control, or at least I pretended I did! While juggling two kids, school schedules, work, and the every day chaos that comes with life.
Meanwhile, God was probably watching me and thinking, ” That’s cute.” Every time I made a plan, He gently nudged me in a different direction. It took me a while to realize that His GPS works a lot better than mine. Once I stopped trying to do everything myself and started listening, I found peace in knowing He sees what I can’t.
This little shop is proof of that. What started as an idea has become a way to touch so many hearts in so many different ways. From the new mom who just had a baby and needs baptism favors and stays for advice or to the client who just needs a shoulder to cry on and leaves with one of our handmade religious pieces to guide her through tough times. I am grateful God kept steering me back on course, even when I was convinced I knew a shortcut.
