Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Weinberg.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My Co-Founder Mayela Lanza and I started Sustainable Supperclub in 2017 and hosted our first event in 2018 at Verde at PAMM with Top Chef Janine Booth. At the end of the event, everyone was asking us when the next one would be, and we knew were were on to something.
Sustainable Supperclub has remained an important part of my life ever since. The environment, giving back, and maintaining strong social connections are three things that are very important to me, and Sustainable Supperclub addresses all three.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was definitely not a smooth road. Just as we were gaining steam, finding our rhythm, and in the process of planning an event, COVID struck. I’m sure everyone can relate!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the Co-Founder and Chair of Sustainable Supperclub. We host pop up events around Miami to raise awareness regarding food waste in fun, social settings while supporting non-profits in line with our mission.
I’m most proud of getting it off the ground! Adulting takes a lot of work and developing a website, writing press releases, even opening a business bank account were all things that were new to me.
I think that the giving aspect of Sustainable Supperclub sets us apart. Each event we host has a charitable aspect to it. We also make sure to keep our messaging light and manageable so that attendees can incorporate small sustainable steps into their every day lives. A little goes a long way!
