Conversations with Janelle Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Joseph.

Hi Janelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey through YouTube and content creation. As a YouTuber, I wanted my content to feel unique and professional, so I taught myself how to create intros, thumbnails, channel art, and other visuals for my videos. What started as me simply wanting to improve my own content eventually turned into a real passion for graphic design and branding.

As I continued learning and experimenting with different styles, people around me began noticing my work and asking me to create designs for their brands, businesses, and content as well. That’s when I realized graphic design could become something much bigger than just a creative hobby tied to YouTube.

Over time, I branched out into logo design, branding, social media graphics, and creative direction. Being a content creator first gave me a unique perspective when it comes to design because I understand how important visuals are for building a brand, standing out online, and connecting with an audience. Today, I love helping people bring their visions to life through creative and visually impactful design while continuing to grow and evolve creatively myself.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, my journey has been pretty smooth, but balancing graphic design while being a full-time college student has definitely been challenging at times. Managing school, clients, and creative work all at once can get overwhelming, especially during busy seasons.

I’ve also dealt with creative blocks here and there, which comes with working in a creative field and is something a lot of graphic designers go through. Over time, I’ve learned how to manage my time better, stay inspired, and trust my creative process while continuing to grow as a designer.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in graphic design and branding, focusing on creating clean, modern, and intentional visuals that help individuals and small businesses build strong, recognizable identities. My work includes logo design, brand kits, and social media graphics that are tailored to each client’s vision and personality.

What I’m known for is my ability to make designs feel both professional and personal, ensuring that every project not only looks good but also communicates a clear story and purpose.

What sets me apart is my attention to detail and my focus on creating visuals that actually align with how a brand wants to be perceived online. I’m most proud of turning my creative skills into work that helps others bring their ideas to life in a meaningful way.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
One of the biggest “risks” for me was taking my graphic design skills beyond just personal projects and starting to offer them to others. Putting your work out publicly and working with clients comes with a lot of uncertainty, especially when you’re still building confidence and experience.

Overall, I see risk as something that comes with anything creative or entrepreneurial. I try to focus less on fear and more on growth, and I’ve learned that most of my progress has come from moments where I chose to bet on my skills even when I wasn’t fully comfortable yet.
