Conversations with Greg Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Young

Greg, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At 29, after years of battling substance abuse, homelessness, and multiple arrests, I knew something had to change. That decision set me on the path to sobriety, and now, 11 years later, I’ve rebuilt my life, not only for myself but for my wife and kids.

Building Noble by Greg Young, a men’s grooming line now available on Amazon, has taken long hours and sacrifice. Balancing family life, my barbershop Noblemen’s Cut and Shave, and running The Backpack Barber Foundation has been challenging, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Noble represents more than just a product – it’s about self-care and the journey of transformation. A portion of the profits supports my foundation, where we provide haircuts and hygiene essentials to the homeless and underprivileged kids.

Every hour I put into my business and charity is worth it if it helps inspire others to rise above their circumstances. And seeing people buy Noble on Amazon and share the same pride I have in the product keeps me pushing forward.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. The path to where I am now has been full of challenges. Early on, I was battling addiction, homelessness, and legal troubles, which left me at rock bottom. Getting sober was the first big hurdle, but it was only the beginning. After getting clean, building my barber business, Noblemen’s Cut and Shave, required a lot of long hours and dedication. It’s tough balancing that while also being a present husband and father, especially when you’re trying to establish a brand like Noble by Greg Young and keep a nonprofit like The Backpack Barber Foundation thriving.

One of the biggest challenges has been maintaining momentum while managing everything. Whether it’s the struggles of running a business, like keeping a steady stream of clients and ensuring the quality of the product, or the emotional toll of helping people who are in desperate situations through the foundation, it all takes a toll. Financially, starting a grooming line while running a barbershop and a charity at the same time wasn’t easy. But every challenge has pushed me to work harder, and it’s all been worth it to create something that can help others while staying true to my values.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wear a few hats, but at the core of everything I do is the desire to give back. I’m a barber by trade, and I own Noblemen’s Cut and Shave in Fort Lauderdale. What sets me apart in that space is the personal connection I try to build with each client. It’s more than just a haircut—it’s about making people feel good about themselves, no matter who they are or where they come from.

I also run The Backpack Barber Foundation, where we provide free haircuts and hygiene essentials to the homeless and underserved kids. The foundation is my way of giving back to people who are going through what I once did. It’s something I’m incredibly proud of, especially seeing the impact we make on people’s lives.

In 2022, I launched my men’s grooming line, Noble by Greg Young, which is sold on Amazon. What makes this line special is the story behind it—Noble is a symbol of my journey from struggling with addiction to rebuilding my life. A portion of the profits goes directly to my foundation, keeping that cycle of giving back alive.

What sets me apart is my personal experience. I’ve lived through the struggles many of the people I help are facing today. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to take those tough experiences and turn them into something positive, whether it’s through the foundation, my barbershop, or the grooming line. Everything I do is driven by the desire to inspire change and make a difference.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family. Coming from a broken home, I know how important it is to have a strong, loving foundation, and that’s something I work hard to build every day for my wife and kids. They are my motivation and my reason for staying focused, pushing through the long hours, and continuing on this journey.

I’m incredibly grateful for the life God has blessed me with, and I love the life I’ve been able to build through hard work and faith. My family’s happiness and well-being are at the center of everything I do, and being able to create a better life for them is what matters most.
