Conversations with Gloria Hernando

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Gloria Hernando again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Gloria , we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
My name is Gloria Hernando, and I am a Dominican American multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Miami, FL. Through my brand, Latin for Glory, I create art, spaces, and experiences that ignite empowerment, spiritual awakening, and a deeper connection to the natural world. At the core of my work is the Bull, an archetype symbolizing strength and perseverance—values that guide my creative journey.

Since becoming an independent creative in 2018 with my first Latin for Glory studio in the Miami Design District, I’ve blended my background in Interior Design with my lifelong calling as a visual artist to build a diverse and evolving practice. My work has taken me across the U.S. and beyond, from Wyoming and Texas to the Dominican Republic, each place adding new layers of depth and meaning to my artistic expression. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the journey that has led me here—one that continues to evolve through creativity, storytelling, and a commitment to empowering others through art.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Right now, I’m incredibly excited to be launching a project that has been in the works for months: “The Magical World of Orchids”. This is more than just a coloring book—it’s an artistic journey that blends illustration and poetry to celebrate orchids as symbols of resilience, transformation, and diversity. Each page explores different orchid species and their natural environments, drawing parallels to our own personal growth and adaptation in life.

This book is deeply personal to me, as it was inspired by my upbringing and the orchid garden my mother cultivated when she immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic. Growing up, I was surrounded by hundreds of orchids that she lovingly cared for—plants she grew as a connection to her roots. These orchids became more than just flowers; they were symbols of heritage, resilience, and the cycles of life. They taught me about the beauty of patience, adaptation, and the ways in which nature mirrors our own journeys.

The official launch of “The Magical World of Orchids” will take place on March 8th at Pérez Art Museum Miami during their International Women’s Day event. This is such a meaningful moment for me, as this book has been a labor of love, inspired by the beauty of nature and the power of storytelling. At the event, we will create art together, share more about the book, and dive into the inspiration behind it. I will also be signing copies! “The Magical World of Orchids” will also be available for purchase at the museum store and on my website.

Beyond the book itself, I’m developing interactive art workshops where participants can explore creativity through drawing activities inspired by the themes of the book. These workshops will be held at different locations, creating opportunities for people to connect with art in a hands-on, meditative way.

I would love for people to follow along and be part of this journey! You can sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Instagram @latinforglory to stay updated on upcoming workshops and new release dates. I’m so excited to share this with the world and see how others interpret and engage with the beauty of orchids through art.

This year, I’m most excited about finally bringing to life tangible projects that have been years in the making—creative seeds that were planted long ago and are now blooming into bigger dreams. It feels like a true rebirth, an expansion of my career into new realms that no one has seen me explore before.

For a long time, I’ve been nurturing ideas behind the scenes, allowing them to evolve organically. Now, I’m stepping into a season of bold creation—releasing projects that bridge my artistic vision with fresh, unexpected expressions. Whether through new mediums, collaborations, or immersive experiences, I’m embracing this evolution with open arms.

I can’t wait to share what’s coming and invite others into this journey of transformation, empowerment, and artistic discovery. This year is about growth, risk-taking, and creating work that not only inspires but also connects on a deeper level. I’m ready for it all!
