Today, we’d like to introduce you to Fara Charles.
Hi Fara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started off as a fashion show producer (creative director) and later on worked on set as a Production Assistant.
I also dabbled in wardrobe styling, and that led to me becoming my own series creator, which is called the Fara Charles Project. You can find that on YouTube. My latest project is the Fara Charles podcast, which you will also be able to find on YouTube.
Overall, it’s been a journey, but I appreciate every aspect of it, and every part of my journey has taught me great lessons to take with me in the future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, it has definitely not been a smooth road because I did not subject myself to certain things or forget my principles and morals along the way, so for people like us, it takes a little longer, but I’m OK with that.
I am a very unique person. I’m also very brief. Very honest I can be very aggressive or obnoxious at times, especially when I’m passionate about a project so I’m not the easiest to work with, but I guarantee I’m the funniest!
I love to make people feel beautiful, and I like to push boundaries, so I like for us to always think outside of the box. when you’re a creative director like me, things don’t come easy, but when they do come, it’s always worth it!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I like to call myself an entrepreneur because I’m a person who does not stay in my own lane. I don’t mind trying different lanes and seeing if I can master those, too. What I’m most known for, I’d say, is fashion, being a part of the fashion industry doing fashion shows. What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve done ten fashion shows within a time span of eight years, and I’ve also traveled with my shows to various states: New York, Atlanta, and, of course, Miami.
I’ve also curated other events like Art Baselish, which we did our 6th staging this year, and it was a sold-out event! Shout out to my investors, Drew and Chris. I would say I specialize in organizing and producing events. It’s also something I’m very passionate about and I love to do sets me apart from the rest. I’m willing to take risks and do what’s never been done before or at least try. I love going against the odds, you beat the odds I think that’s the best feeling ever!
Who else deserves credit for your story?
Who deserves the credit? Let me start by telling you! I’m sorry, I’m gonna have a Snoop Dogg moment real quick, but I believed in myself first before anybody else did, and I continue to believe in myself and believe that I could do certain things or bring certain events to certain places, and it would be successful so let me start off by giving myself my flowers!
And move on to my family, my village. Without them, I couldn’t do anything at all because they make sure that I’m levelheaded, my children are taken care of when I’m not around, and I have what I need. If not, they help me find it. They also help me at my events if I need them to, so shout out to my friends and my family because, without them, I definitely couldn’t do this at all.
(there’s way too much to acknowledge) to my models, I’ve probably worked within a span of 10 years because 2024 is the 10th year of TFCP, maybe over 4 to 500 models, so I want to thank all of you, but I want to thank these six specifically because they have stayed with me through the ups, the downs, the rounds, and never left my side and have been so loyal: Selena, Marlyse, Danyale, Lloydy & Zania! My superstar models from my agency!! Love you ladies down!
And to the designers who were willing to believe in my vision and me and invest in themselves, I appreciate you guys so much because, of course, without you, I have no show. To my sponsors who always sponsor my events even when at times it didn’t benefit you: Alliance Transportation, Optical City, Rum Runnas, and Suspeck (my brother) for always giving me his venue! I also wanna thank Taz, Yung, and Keema Chang because, without them, I would not have fallen in love with Production the way that I love it now; so big up to you guys.
Lately, I’ve definitely met some amazing people who have been just helping me revamp my brand, so shout out to Chadé Lopez of the launch agency, shout out to my girl Melissa, who is the producer of my podcast, and lastly, Daniel Jeter for being an amazing PR! I believe there are lots of people to thank, so if I forgot you, please, instant it wasn’t intentional.
