Conversations with Evette Villanueva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evette Villanueva.

Hi Evette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about beauty, creativity, and helping people feel confident in their own skin. I began my career over 13 years ago as a professional hair and makeup artist, working in everything from weddings and photoshoots to television, music videos, and major productions. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredible clients and brands, including Netflix, Univision, the Latin Grammys, and other large-scale productions.

While I loved makeup artistry, I always felt drawn to skincare. Becoming a licensed esthetician was a lifelong dream that I finally pursued, and it completely transformed the way I approach beauty. Today, I combine my experience in makeup with advanced skincare treatments to help clients achieve healthy, glowing skin that enhances their natural beauty.

As the owner of Skin ENV, my mission is to create customized experiences that empower my clients to feel their best, whether they’re preparing for a wedding, a photoshoot, a special event, or simply investing in themselves. My journey hasn’t always been linear, but every step, from building my makeup career to expanding into skincare, has shaped the business and professional I am today. I feel incredibly grateful to do work that allows me to blend artistry, science, and genuine connection every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to build and run a business while also keeping up with the demands of social media and marketing. At the same time, I was navigating a divorce, rebuilding my personal life, raising two children, and transitioning from a successful hair and makeup career into becoming a licensed esthetician and launching Skin ENV. While it hasn’t always been easy, those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of betting on myself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in customized skincare treatments and natural, camera-ready beauty. What I’m most proud of is being a full-time freelancer for the past 11 years, building a career and business entirely through hard work, relationships, and a passion for helping people feel confident. I believe what sets me apart is my unique combination of skincare expertise and makeup artistry, allowing me to create results that are both beautiful and long-lasting.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
One resource I use every single day is ChatGPT. It has become an invaluable tool for my business, helping me create content, write captions, brainstorm marketing ideas, draft client communications, organize classes and events, and even navigate business decisions. As a small business owner who wears many hats, it saves me an incredible amount of time and helps me stay creative and productive. Instagram has also been a game changer, not only as a marketing platform but as a way to genuinely connect with clients, showcase my work, build trust, and grow a community around my business. Together, those two tools have had a huge impact on how I run and grow my brand.
