Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Hughes
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From a young age, my mother instilled in me the importance of leaving an impact and a legacy in everything I do, a lesson that has shaped my entire life. Growing up in San Sebastian, Spain, and moving to Miami at the age of 14, I was exposed to diverse cultures and perspectives early on. Miami, with its vibrant, multicultural energy, has been my true home ever since, influencing both my personal values and my professional journey.
In 2011, when I celebrated my decade long tenure at Vogue, I embarked on a transformative chapter, moving to Mexico City. This move not only expanded my horizons but also made Mexico my second home. Living there immersed me in its rich culture, while my travels across Latin America for almost 30 years further enriched my experiences and broadened my worldview. Throughout my career, I have embraced challenges and opportunities that have fueled my growth as a leader.
My natural curiosity, communication skills, and passion for helping others discover their best selves have driven me in every role I have taken on. As Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Mexico and Latin America, I strengthened the magazine’s position as a fashion authority. Later, as CEO of Condé Nast Mexico and Latin America, I led the organization through a transformation, fostering an collaborative and driven culture and serving as Director of Advertising and Director of Image.
Beyond my professional work, I have cultivated a passion for documentaries, psychology, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy, among other interests. I believe in bringing your whole self to the table, your unique talents, personality, sense of humor, and, most importantly, your heart. Whether you are running your own business or navigating a career, a creative and entrepreneurial approach is key to thriving in today’s world.
As Founder and CEO of Adira Consulting, I leverage my strategic insights to help businesses achieve sustainable growth and through my coaching programs I guide leaders and entrepreneurs in their journey to becoming their best version of themselves. And in my current role as Executive Vice President and Chair of the Advisory Board at Istituto Marangoni Miami, I work to elevate the future of fashion education.
From my roots in San Sebastian to my experiences in Miami, Mexico, and across Latin America, my journey has always been driven by the desire to leave a lasting impact, creating a legacy in everything I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Becoming a leader at such a young age was both exhilarating and challenging. I was just 24 when I became the Editor-in-Chief of Selecta Magazine in Miami, a role that required me to quickly learn how to navigate the responsibilities of leadership. At that age, I was still discovering my own voice and learning how to manage teams, but being thrown into that position pushed me to adapt quickly. I had to face my insecurities, make decisions with conviction, and embrace mistakes as essential steppingstones to growth.
Being the youngest Editor-in-Chief of Vogue was a milestone in my career, but it came with its own pressures. I was tasked with leading a prestigious publication and guiding it through significant growth and transformation, all while proving myself in an industry. There were times when imposter syndrome crept in, and I questioned whether I was ready for the responsibility. But I realized early on that leadership is not about having all the answers; it’s about being open to learning, evolving, and being authentic in your approach.
I had to learn how to adapt quickly, making strategic decisions while staying true to my vision. Leadership isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey, and I discovered that I needed to lead in a way that felt authentic to me. Rather than trying to fit a mold, I embraced my own unique style, one that emphasized creativity, open communication, and empathy. Mistakes were inevitable, but I learned to view them as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks. Every misstep helped me refine my leadership approach, making me more resilient and aware of my own strengths and weaknesses. Over time, I learned to trust my instincts, lean into my creativity, and empower those around me to bring their best ideas forward.
Leading at a young age forced me to be adaptable, courageous, and authentic, qualities that have stayed with me throughout my career. Whether at Selecta Magazine, Vogue, or later as CEO of Condé Nast Mexico and Latin America, I have carried those lessons with me, allowing them to shape my leadership philosophy and help me inspire others to find their own path to success.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

In my role as Executive Vice President and Chair of the Advisory Board at Istituto Marangoni Miami, a significant part of my work is attracting influential speakers and board members, which has significantly contributed to the institution’s growth.
Across both roles, my work is driven by a commitment to creating lasting impact, whether through restructuring organizations for greater efficiency, mentoring future leaders, or building meaningful partnerships that elevate brands and institutions.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Books have been a constant source of inspiration and learning. Some of my favorites include The Lean Startup by Eric Ries, which provides great insights into innovation and entrepreneurship, and Dare to Lead by Brené Brown, which focuses on authentic leadership and the power of vulnerability. Start With Why by Simon Sinek has also been influential, as it reminds me of the importance of purpose-driven work and leadership.
In terms of podcasts, I find How I Built This by Guy Raz incredibly inspiring. Listening to the stories of successful entrepreneurs and the struggles they faced resonates with my own experiences and motivates me to keep pushing forward.
I also follow online platforms that keep me updated on trends in leadership, fashion, and business.
